Your pretty ladies around the world
Got a weird thing to show you
So tell all the boys and girls
Tell your brother, your sister and your mamma too
we´re about to go down
And you know just what to do
Wave your hands in the air like you don´t care
Gilde by the people as they start to look and stare
Do your dance, do your dance, do your dance quick mamma
Come on baby tell me what´s the word

Word up everybody says
When you hear the call you´ve got to get it underway
Word up it´s the code word
No matter where you say it you know that you´ll be heard

Now all you sucker. D.J.’s
Who think you’re fly
There’s got to be a reason
And we know the reason why.
And act real cool
But you got to realise
That you’re acting like fools.

The way she says the atheist is logical etc etc makes it clear she is biased. A Christian won't suggest an atheist is logical, because the basis of logic is to know there is a God to them.

I'm sorry, you're saying that it's only logical that there be a god? That the basis of logic is that there is a god? wtf?

To the atheist life isn't sacred, though he may like people in general.

Through conversations with various people of different religions on the subject of death, I actually have observed atheists to be the ones who hold life the most sacred. For them, death is an end-all-be-all. They are impacted hard through dealing with death, as they cannot comfort themselves with the thought that this person has gone to a better place. Those who believe there is no after-life or reincarnation tend to hold life a little more importantly, as in their eyes, that's the only run people have.

The theists I've spoken with on the subject (mainly Christian and Muslim) tend to hold a slightly different view. While they too believe that life holds value, they also believe that the physical world is just a brief precursor to a more important eternal life- that the mortal coil is a short run through Orientation Island before they reach the Main Grid of God, so to say.

Thank you. The whole "atheists don't value life as much as religious people" argument has always baffled me. I think it's a product of the bigoted view of atheism that so many religious people are taught. It certainly has no basis in logic. Scarcity tends to equate to value so if you've only got one of something and no chance to replace it you tend to treasure it.

In biblical Judaism, the word of God, which itself has creative power and is God's medium of communication with the human race.
In Hellenistic Judaism, a hypostasis associated with divine wisdom.
Christianity. In Saint John's Gospel, especially in the prologue (1:1–14), the creative word of God, which is itself God and incarnate in Jesus. Also called Word.

BTW, Wikipedia is not an official encyclopedia.

What you just posted is totally non-sequitor and does not back up your claim that Logos is not of Greek origin.

You just don't know to take being wrong do you?

Actually, I do agree with that, Chip. Viewing it from the other side, I lost my fear of death but at the same time tended to start regarding my body as not much more important than my car or my house.

Anyone have a statistic on how many suicide bombers have been atheists?

You just reminded me of a great placard I saw at an atheist rally once. It said "9/11 was a faith based initiative" :D

You are Agnostic

You're not sure if God exists, and you don't care. (well it's not that I don't care)
For you, there's no true way to figure out the divine.
You rather focus on what you can control - your own life.
And you tend to resent when others "sell" religion to you. (completely true)

I'm so glad Kevn came back to stun us with his "logic" and religious banter.

That is such a crappy poll, making people put other people in some particular order? In my little world, everybody is equal. :)

If you are accosted by an atheist, the chances of him being an atheist is 100%. If atheists commit crime at almost twice their percentage in the population makes them much more dangerous.

While it's true you are less likely to find an atheist criminal, it's only because there are so few atheists in the population.

Hmmm..I never thought about it that way. When I think about all the athiest "holy wars" wages throughout history is it really disturbing.

When I think about how those athiest burned all those women for being witches, it seems downright cruel.

As for your statistic, it is bullshit. Athiests do not commit 5% of the crime. That is stupid.

However, it is a fact that most murders in the US are commited by Christians.

Most children are abused by Christians.

I wish Christians would stop having abortions.

Cant' agree with you hear Neehai. I would think that Catholic[*cough*molesters*cough*] Priests hold the record of child abuse when compared to religions across the board.

I missed all this. Which kidnapper ended up slaughtering the children and will that be on the test?

My philosophy in life is that almost anything is possible in theory. We still know very little about so many things in life. I for one cannot say for certain if God (in the sense of a higher power) exists or not. I respect what anyone believes as long as it doesn't impede on my way of life and freedoms. My own belief is that there is something possibly greater but I do not know nor may I ever possibly know. I believe we should live our lives so that everyone can enjoy not only being themselves but not resent the presence of anyone else.

I've learned years ago that in Jail there are a LOT of christians & Muslims. They weren't that way when they went in.

Try being the guy explaining why you have long black hair & black fingernails to a bunch of long-timers.

er, Catholics are Christians

LOL Where do you come up with that logic?

maybe you mean Protestants are Christians

Catholics are Catholics, call a catholic a christian or a christian a catholic and I'm sure you will get an earfull.

Christians embrace the 2nd testament (kinder gentler god)

Catholics embrace the 1st testament (angry jealous god)
