Sorry if this has been brought up but I can't find it..

What do you think?

The Xbox 360 beat them both to launch by miles.. The PS3 is set to be released in March 2006, and the Revolution just in 2006..

As far as I can see the PS3 and 360 are just going bigger, better, more graphics, wireless controllers..

But I've looked at some Revolution stuff and it looks fantastic.. Mainly, the wireless controller (I know there was a thread about that)..

Basically it can sence what you're doing with it, so its sort of like those guns you can plug in to be controllers for shooting games? But you can use it for baseball/golf/cricket games, shooting games, melee games! Video here (WMV File) or here (click on "click here to view video"). More Revolution below (coz I'm obsessed with it).

Ok I would try to put more about the PS3 and 360.. But its all bigger are better.. Like I said more graphics, lots of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.. And the PS3 can play a heck of a lot of different disk types, more than I knew existed (too bad no UMDs).. Amazon PS3 Specs, Amazon 360 Specs, Revolution Specs.

I'm going to go on about the Revolution some more now :D

THE BEST BIT, or at least one of them, is that the Revolution will have downloadable access to 20 years' worth of favourite titles originally released for the Nintendo 64, SNES, and NES!!

It'll be backwards compatable with the Gamecube and will have an optional add on for DVDs!

And supposedly to cost under $200.. Unlike the $300 - $400 price tag for the 360 and PS3..

If someones teched up on the PS3 and/or 360 specs, post and I'll link the individule post here :D .. I'm just too phsyked up about the Revolution, sorry I've always liked Nintendo for their own games, I'm a Mario Kart junkie :o

Anyway, most of this is confirmed.. But don't take my word for it.. Don't think we've had official word for prices on the PS3 or Revolution..

Then i'll buy the Nintendo one after it's over. Plus maybe a PS3 for the RPGs.

PS3 for RPG's.

Revolution for platform,
(That controler looks sweet for those of us who have mastered flipping through 500 channels with the remote control :3 )

my older sibbling will most likely get a broken Xbox 360 in a couple of years, then fix it, then pour waffle batter into it,

guy after my own heart,

but still PS3 and Revolution in my heart comes before the Xbox 360,

Xbox 360 with waffle batter in it being crushed by a monster truck...i'll pay 600 dollars just to see that,

ermmm thats not the best bit - the charges for these games will be more than simple buying an old console and a package of games - or you could download an emulater and get the roms for free

they already shown there ripoff pricing stratigies with the classic gb releases - one old game for £20? i can get a snes and 5 games for that - even othe rcompanys are selling their retro games in multipacks for the same price - look at midway/tiato/atari and even the mighty sega and capcom packs

get a ps3 and get 20 diff companys retro games at £20 a time insted - ull get more game per buck

The Xbox was my first console so I don't have any sentimental attachment to any of the other systems. I'll most likely get a 360 in a few months. Live looks very cool and I like the media center features, especially that I'll be able to listen to my Live365 station through it. I'm not a huge console gamer. Chronicles of Riddick is the best console game I've played so far (and one of the best games, period), and I loved Lucas Arts Gladius. The system I'd be least likely to buy is the Nintendo. I prefer games aimed at adults and the fact that they're still milking mario brothers after all these years is a big turnoff to me.

Well, I agree a lot of kids games get shoved out there.. But watch the controller video (if you haven't and have time) and see what you think after.. I wasn't really considering it until I saw that.. I got SO hyped..

wow japanese ppl really do have fun with battery operated controllers.. LOL

It looks cool, but lately nintendo has been falling behind!
Ill decide when they show graphics or games, they are just showing the remote controller, what about the games and how real its gonna be.

First, i thought, "Oh xbox 360" its just gonna be sitting there collecting dust like the old xbox,
So i was in bestbuy one day, and they were playing it, it was AMAZING, i never seen a game so real.. IF it was available i would have bought it right off...

If you have not seen XBOX 360, you need to :)

I used to :: LOVE :: Nintendo, but maybe this one will be a lil better... *cough game cube sucked, COUGH **

nope not kidzworld.com

its base is from EDGE (uk games industry mag), Games Tm (uk games 'style' mag) and gamespot interveiw with Iwata - nintendos president

i have a couple of their retro consoles - as i collect retro console, computers games and equipment - and dont think that the downloadable content an be pushed as a 'wow' factor

there is alos the problem of its internal memory to be used to save games, downloads and any other stuff needed to be saved - if u have a couple of nextgen rpgs that has massive saves space it can cripple the abilaties to do the others.

i most likly will get the console - if only to beat my mates at smash brothers revolution and for completion reasons - but it will be low on my list of 'to gets'

This poll should have been 5 options at the most.

as far as I care 360...sure...when bill gates goes down on me. They are releasig only a limited number of thier systems at a time. Current wait times to get a 360 is well past April as a friend reserved theres and THEN was told they would get thiers in April and that was before the X-mas rush.

Lol why? I wanted to cover all the options.. Whenever I start a poll people always want more options.. And I don't see a disadvantage, the more the better! :D

I'd get them all if I could afford it, but there hasn't been a generation yet where I've been able to afford more than one so I voted for my fave - Revolution. :D

I'll make a long rambling post about how great it is tomorrow since I'm off to bed now.

Nite.

Because there is an option when you create the poll to allow people to vote for more than one entry. :)

BUT then you get people voting for the sake of it for ALL the options..

dang! a thread I haven't replied to?! ;)

I have an Xbox360 and will be getting a PS3. I somehow doubt I'll be getting a Revolution unless something really unmissable comes up, because I've always tended to be disappointed with Nintendo - they seem to aim for a much lower age group, and much of the stuff that isn't is available on the other systems anyway.

Saying that, I bought the Gamecube (when they were practically giving them away) cuz of one game, and I bought the DS for Nintendogs. :o

I want nintendogs! But I went for a PSP..

Anyway, have you watched the Revolution Controller Video?

With the stuff you can do with that, I'm hoping they'll throw out some more games aimed at adults.. Hopefully some wonderful melee games..

It depends on how you want to measure success. If by number of console systems sold, I confidently predict that the winners will be:

PLAYSTATION3 (caps because it will have a large margin lead on the others)
NintendoRevolution
XBox360

No matter what Microsoft does, they simply are not going to woo over huge portions of the Japanese marketplace. They know this, and are aiming for the next-best thing: To simply increase their market share a bit over there.

The PS3 will sell more units worldwide than either of the other two, and the Revolution will sell comfortably more than the XBox360.

If you're going to measure by profitability, then the winners will be:

NINTENDOREVOLUTION (again, far ahead of either Sony or MS)
Playstation3
Xbox360

Some things to consider:

-Nintendo, even during the system wars where they were not the leader (N64 and GameCube) in terms of numbers of units sold, were still financially solvent. Their business plan has steadily been to always sell the system components at a profit, if even a modest one, and then continue to profit on the games. Their competitors meanwhile have adopted strategies of selling higher-end systems with greater technical capabilities, at a loss, and try to make the lost money back from game and accessory sales.

http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/11/25/154217&tid=187&tid=234&tid=10

http://www.buzzcut.com/article.php?story=2005053122342247
"Nintendo’s business engine is so efficient that even though they sell far less than Sony, they make, bottom line, about as much as all of Sony, Yes, that’s right. Little Nintendo generates about as much cash as giant Sony—electronics, movies, the works."

By comparison, Sony is expected to lose more than $1 billion on sales of the PS3 before they break even and begin to profit more than a year later, on sales of games.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/28/news_6128295.html
"Japan Securities has recently calculated an analysis that the production of a single PlayStation 3 console will cost Sony approximately 54,000 yen to make ($494), as of its initial release in 2006."

-Nintendo's system is currently estimated to have a retail price of $150 or even $100. At that price, it is a great buy, and has a much lower buy-in than either Sony or MS's systems, which not only cost much more, but also will (in many households) require an upgrade of the home television set in order to take advantage of the hi-def visuals. On regular (non hi-def) TV sets, many of the XBox360 games (and presumably Sony's games in 8 months) do not look noticeably better than current Xbox games.

-Even with this lower price, Nintendo is going to be delivering an experience that is currently only available to game-geeks who buy extraordinarily weird games. Have you ever been to a get-together or party where someone set up a game of Samba De Amigo (think DDR, but with maracas), Dance Dance Revolution, Donkey Konga, Taiko Drum Master, Guitar Hero? These are all incredibly engaging games, pick-up-and-play. They're the types of games that even draw in people who HATE videogames normally. They're also currently expensive, sometimes hard-to-find, and are often more of a treasured collectible than an everyday game. The Revolution, however, is going to be giving this type of gameplay, a new "game-gimmick", with practically every game, AND at a price much cheaper than either of the other competitors, AND the games will be like this, built-in, rather than requiring some super-expensive controller that is collected more than used. Think about a paper-airplane game, where you tilt the airplane with your controller, like skimming the air outside your car window with your hand as a kid. Think, a first-person shooter where you hold a gun in your hand, or a survival horror game where you have to literally shine a flashlight around to see where you're going.

-Based on its expected price and capabilities, the Revolution doesn't have to be the first system that people buy. It only has to be the second. First, Nintendo's not going to lose money on the system sales; they never have. Second, their system is going to be priced so affordably and with such unusual features (motion-sensitive controller, marketplace for emulated classic titles from Nintendo's entire history-NES, SNES, N64, + backwards-compatible with Gamecube games) that practically everyone who buys a second system at all will be buying a Revolution. The marketplace is going to break down into households that only buy one system, where Sony will have a commanding lead, and the Revolution place somewhat ahead of the 360; and households who buy more than one system. For those who decide to buy a second videogame system? People only have so much disposable income. Regardless of whether the first system in the household was a PS3 or a 360, Nintendo's Revolution will almost always be the 2nd system to be brought home. These families and individuals, whose wallets are already tapped out by the expensive hardware from Sony or MS, (and possibly that new hi-def TV they need to get the full juice out of their systems, AND the $60 games), will get the most bang-for-buck by getting the Revolution as the second system for their house. Let's say that you already have a 360. Do you want to get a PS3 ($400 estimated, + games) or a Revolution ($150 + games)?

A Gaming PC is my choice.

Now, if I had to buy a gaming console, XBOX 360 would be it from what I saw at a recent head-to-head in San Francisco.
