It is my opinion that the Liberals in this country have become so enraged by the constant reminder of their irrelevance to the national debate that they have completely divorced themselves from reason and fact and have retreated to rhetoric and baseless accusations. You have no idea what is going on because you get your information from the same outlets that brought us Memogate and for that same reason you have zero credibility.

In the same breath that you call Bush an imbecile you swear that he is some diabolical mastermind trying to take over the world. You don't make sense. The Liberal argument has devolved into rabid vitriol.

As has been demonstrated time and again in these forums, the only thing the SLeft knows how to do is condemn and shout down all the while never offering any concrete alternative solutions.

All the Left has anymore is hate and negativity and the Big Bush Bogeyman.

-Kiamat Dusk

Yep, hate and negativity is all we have. Well, that and corruption, bridges to nowhere, the biggest and fastest growing deficit in history, illegal domestic espionage, lies about the domestic espionage, a war that is turning into a quagmire, lies about the need for the war, cronyism that threatens the basic workings of government, prisoner abuse scandals, skyrocketing energy prices, an administration that puts ideology over science, Katrina, Harriet Miers, Terry Schiavo, CIA leaks, and a president who can't say a simple sentence.

Of course it's easier for you to dismiss all that as Bush Bashing. Not really honest, but easier.

Hey, we got W into office TWICE.

...just sayin'...

Oh, and now Republicans are sexist bigots who wouldn't vote for a black female!? Have you completely lost all grip on reality or do you even care about the veracity of your statements?

-Kiamat Dusk

I'm asking who do you have for 2008. W can't run again. Well, not constitutionally anyway.

And yes, I'm saying that the Republican base wouldn't vote for a black woman for president. How many black men have Republicans elected to national office? How many women have Republicans elected to national office? How many black women? In this century? None. Not a one. If you think that makes Republicans sexist bigots, you're free to have your own opinions. Don't ascribe them to me, though.

Mmmm, the BBC! The people who had a reporter standing in Baghdad saying the US forces hadn't arrived while CNN was showing live coverage of them rolling through.

I an a frequent visitor of their site, too, actually. Good stuff as long as they aren't talking about the US.

And The Guardian...I might have known. Any rag that hates America that much is certain to make your "must read" list.

-Kiamat Dusk

I find FOX News has nothing but contempt for America. I also think you do as well.

I'd say that's about right. Oh --and The Supreme Court got Bush in once, the second time Diebold did.

Your hero is an unelected fraud. Get over it. The rest of the Country is already waking up.

You do realize, of course, that despite the moniker, Bubba does not count as the "first black President".

I miss Clinton. Anybody else remember gas prices under $2? Or a shrinking national deficit? Remember laws that were passed by Republicans and Democrats working together? Sigh, those were the days. Remember the nutjobs who had bumper stickers calling Clinton a draft dodger? The same nutjobs who voted for Bush and Cheney! LOL. Remember when the worst scandal to come out of Washington was a blow job in the Oval Office? Sigh...

Got to hand it to those Republicans, though. Their sex scandals have really juicy bits like gay male hustlers posing as journalists, CIA bureaucrats named Dusty Foggo going to hooker/poker parties, and of course National Guardsmen and women in uniform doing S and M with prisoners. Leave it to the wing nuts to take it over the top!

Oh yeah, and for the 3rd time, who you got for president in 2008? Anybody? Or are you just going to stick to bashing possible Democratic candidates?

Ah, yes, the Clinton era. The days of BJs in the White House...yeah, that's the way to bring honor and prestige to the office. Oh, for those halycon days of the highest taxes in American history. The days of peace which saw unanswered terrorist attacks on WTC, two embassies, Khobar Towers. How I long for the days when it was ok to send troops to occupy a soveriegn nation which had never been a threat to us-all without the blessing of the UN.

Ah, for those tolerant days of yesteryear when our peace loving AG oversaw Waco and Ruby Ridge.

Man, immigration was much simpler back then-we just sent SWAT teams in to point guns at unarmed people and send little boys back to Castro's Cuba.

As for '08, personally I think that Condi would be a great candidate, and despite your aspersions, I think she has a very good shot at winning.

I have mixed feeling about Clinton. He was a corporate libertarian and was caught up in an embarrassing sex scandal. Yet at the same time he was a profound genius and promoted liberal social ideals. With that said, he was still the best president (by far) of my lifetime, although I admit I have a soft spot in my heart for Jimmy Carter just because of that adaptation of the Oscar Meyer Bologna song dedicated to him. :)

As for a candidate for next presidential election, my dream would be one who is either progressive or even socialist. I'd like to have a counterpoint to corporate libertarianism (lobbying reform, corporate taxes), sustainable consumption (energy, waste), national self-sufficiency (energy, food, medicine), an expansion of state welfare (health care, education), and promotion of a secular state. *swoon*

Wow, have the Republicans censored the history books already? Unanswered attacks on the WTC? The people who carried out that attack were tried and convicted. Didn't have to violate the Constitution to do it either. The system worked. Wow.

Waco? Waco? LOL. Why is it Republicans are all for law and order unless the lawman is a Democrat? When the Feds show up with a legal warrant you're supposed to comply. Right? Again, didn't need to violate the constitution when attempting to arrest an accused child molester. Are you saying you're for the rights of molesters against our law enforcement people who put their lives on the line every day to protect us?

And I thought you were for sending undocumented immigrants back? Unless Democrats do it? Do you have any principles that actually apply regardless of the politics of the people involved?

Or is it that you are opposed to the nuclear family? Do you actually feel that it is right for the government to step in and take a child from his father just because the father doesn't share the same politics as the government? Or is it only when Democrats do it?

And as for Condi, it has nothing to do with my aspersions. Republicans have gotten elected in the South for a generation by playing the race card. So I don't see the Red Staters voting for a black person. And the religious right wing fringe nutjobs that control much of the party wouldn't allow a man to be subservient to a woman. So, yeah, Condi would have a chance in 2008. If she was a Democrat.

Sooooo....you want us to be French!? You know there's already countries like that...and they have pretty liberal immigration policies.

Just a thought.

Great. Got the WTC guys. What about the rest? Hmmm?

I believe you can execute a warrant without burning down a compound full of innocent people.

I believe you don't have to send in a SWAT team to deport someone. I also believe that boy's father had a gun pointed at him figuratively speaking.

As for the rest of your post....well that's up to your usual low standards of sweeping prejudice, stereotyping, and hate mongering. Keep that up and we'll be in power for another four years.

You are factually incorrect. For one, I paid less tax under Clinton (despite having better pay than I do now) and was able to afford college. Under Bush, there is less incentive for people to be educated (reduced pell grant) as well as a the largest deficits ever (which will come back to bite us in the ass as taxes). Bush's administration have created a horrible economy with less high paying jobs and more low paying ones.

I miss 90 cents/gallon gasoline.

Despite the deficit, the economy is doing the best it has ever done. As for taxes, Congress just extended Bush's tax CUTS the same ones Bush wants to make permanent. Meanwhile, Clinton has admitted to slapping the country with the highest taxes in history-but you need to rob from everybody if you're gonna redistribute wealth.

Bush is just draining the pond.

LOL

Can't respond to my arguments so you call me names. Yep, you are a Republican! How many lives were lost in Waco? How many civilians were killed during the war in Iraq 30 thousand or so? And the Waco action was part of a legal law enforcement action based on good intelligence. Yes, a horrible accident occurred and people died. That's the risk you take when you choose not to comply with a legally obtained warrant.

Oh my goodness they used a SWAT team to take the boy from his mother's family! The horror! Anybody's constitutional rights violated? Nope. Anybody injured? Nope.

Is that all you have? LOL. Yep, the Clinton era was a good as I remember!

Actually Ronald Reagan had the largest tax increase in US history when you adjust for inflation. And the economy is doing okay, but real wages have stagnated and personal debt is at an all time high with interest rates rising. And health care is now the most expensive it has ever been.

Even with the "high" taxes under Clinton the economy was healthier than it is now. The deficit shrank and more money was available for credit at lower rates. That's what has fueled the economy now. But with the deficit taking so much of the available credit, rates are climbing back up and with the Republicans unable to stop spending like teen-agers on their parents credit cards and giving tax breaks to the richest, the middle class debt is going to explode as interest rates continue to climb. All those houses bought with adjustable rate mortgages. This winter people are going to have to choose to heat them or pay the mortgage.

Of course with two oil men in the White House, the oil industry is doing the best it ever has. Profits have skyrocketed, CEO's are getting paid hundreds of millions. You better hope there are a lot of oil company executives who can vote in 2008!

I'm going to have to ask you to stop posting well-written and factually correct information. In a forum you are required to dogmatically state political ideologies assigned to you by either your parents, education, or socioeconomic status without independent thought. When said fallacious dogma is confronted, please respond with a rhetorical diatribe ending with a "rolleyes" smilely. Thank you.

I never called names. W hasn't violated anyone's Constitutional rights. And a boy was shipped back to live in squalor in Cuba. But I'll keep in mind that you are in favor of forced repatriation at gunpoint next time we meet in an illegal immigration thread. :D

Either way, Clinton was the past and W is soon to be the past since he can't run again so now we're left contending for the future.

Sweeping prejudice? Because I said Condi Rice wouldn't get elected President? Or was it because I posted the simple fact that the Republican Party hasn't elected a single Black woman to national office since the Reconstruction? Or was it because I said that Republicans in the south have used the race card to get elected for a generation? So now pointing out the racism in the Republican party is hate mongering and prejudiced? LOL. After you guys elect a black woman to national office, or a black governor of a state in the old Confederacy, come back and call me names. Until then go read a few of Strom Thurmond's old speeches, or even some of Trent Lott's.
