Oh i'm not trying to enter a debate with you, Kevn; I'm saying that I believe that closed threads can sometimes result in informal warnings (which are not on the blotter), or simply can be closed with no warning issued at all. You seem to be indicating there has been a change of policy; I'm trying to express my opinion it's always been this way.

Well, I'm glad you believe "that closed threads can sometimes result in informal warnings (which are not on the blotter), or simply can be closed with no warning issued at all."

There is nothing wrong with holding such a belief.

Warnings are listing on the police blotter. I see no distinction between formal and informal warnings in the rules. Do you?

According the the community standards this is the level of discipline used when rules are broken:

"......... violations of the Community Standards will first result in a Warning, followed by Suspension and eventual Banishment from Second Life. "

If you can provide information of a distinction between formal and informal warnings, where informal are not reported, please let me know.

The reason there must be a registered warning is so when the offending party does it again the next level of discipline is used.

We do still indeed informally and formally warn those who have broken the Community Standards or Forum Guidelines, copied below is the section of the Forum Guidelines which discusses this:

* Deletion/editing of offending material: The material that violated the rules may be edited or deleted without warning. In addition, threads that are no longer productive may be locked from further posting.

* Informal warning: If the offense is not severe enough to warrant a formal warning, an informal warning may be issued. An informal warning is a private correspondence between Linden Lab and the violator, advising the violator of the offense and what (s)he can do to correct it.

* Formal warning: If the offense is severe enough or an informal warning has already been issued, Linden Lab may issue a formal warning. The formal warning becomes a permanent part of the poster’s record. Several warnings can result in suspension or banning of your account.

* Suspension: A suspension is the temporary deactivation of a violator’s posting privileges from the Second Life Forums and from in-world activities.

* Ban: A ban is the permanent deactivation of the violator’s account with the Second Life Forums and from in-world activities.

Thank you,

One question, is there a limit to how many informal warnings one can get?

If there is a limit, how are they tracked? Is there an informal warning list used by LL to verify this is a first offence, second, third etc?

I don't believe informal warnings are listed on the police blotter. I don't believe there is any official number of this or that that you can accumulate, and you can skip over the levels.

As for me, I went straight to formal warning for my statement, AND the statement was edited out. If anybody ever read my appeals, I don't know about it.

A permanent part of the poster's record. Preventing me from ever being a helper of any kind, should I want to be.
