From: Lorelei Patel By popular demand! Here's ... whatshisname (still working on that part) I am in love What gets me about this kitty is that he is so friendly and so adaptable. Within 15 minutes, he was totally comfortable in his new home. Not even our two older cats and dog phased him. The dog was happier than I've ever seen her to have a new friend, and the other cats ... are letting him live. And check out these toes!!! Mega cute.

Did you know that cats have scent glands on the sides of their faces, and when they rub their face against your pantleg or anything else , it has nothing to do with love or companionship, it has to do with spreading their scent.
It is pseudo-science that has spread the belief that animals don't really love their human companions. It seems to be a blinkered approach which is only able to see the mechanics and not the emotions. It is true that when a dog welcomes you home, he is doing what a dog would do when welcoming the pack leader back from a hunt. It is equally true that the bond that unites mother and child is a survival mechanism enabling her to meet its survival needs by subjugating her own. But at the same time the mother loves the child, and the dog loves its owner. Things have more than one dimension, even in the world of science.
