My husband just brought home a six-month-old orange kitty. Polydactyl!

I'm just glad he didn't bring home a pterydactyl for you. I can't tell you how many times mine's made THAT mistake...

I think cats are adorable, they're very "cute", and I used to really like cats until I found out that cat allergies is what causes my severe headaches, and in the process of learning about my cat allergies, I found out what cats really do.

Did you know that cats have scent glands on the sides of their faces, and when they rub their face against your pantleg or anything else , it has nothing to do with love or companionship, it has to do with spreading their scent.

Cats also have two types of urine--one is just regular urine, and the other revovles around spreading scent. It's pretty much a guarantee that if someone has owned a cat for more than 3 months, there are at least 3 spots in the house that they have secretly (or blatantly) left their scented urine (and sometimes in places where you have to ask yourself--how did they do that?).

A cat's life pretty much revolves around spreading their scent, and they're willing to do just about anything to spread their scent. If cats smelled like ferrets, people would find them absolutely disgusting because of their habits. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on one's perspective) the human ofactory senses cannot pick up the scent of cats (just their litter box).

The only other two major things I'm allergic to are Glade Plug-ins and Carpet Fresh, and for some reason, both of those things are very popular with people who own cats. The only other allergy I know I have is from a really nasty perfume that I've only known elderly women to wear.

Why am I going on about this subject? Because the forums are closing soon.

I think cats are adorable too, but can't enjoy them also because of allergies. Pictures (when provided) are nice! I'm also very allergic to Fabreeze. The forms are closing? I don't believe it.

Since the cat basically has thumbs he has over thrown the household, tied the owners up and I imagine will be posting shortly, maybe not here maybe at some Pussy Friend Finder.com site..although I am guessing the cat could make some nice friends with our diverse community here.

The ultimate irony is this:

Cats have an incredibly good sense of smell, and have to smell the chemicals we use in the house.

Chlorines, bleaches, detergents... I'd imagine that with their incredible sense of smell it must give them terrible headaches at times.

As for where they leave their scent - have you ever seen how much cats enjoy their owner's shoes or dirty laundry? One favour deserves another. :)

Ditto on the Pics!!!

My fiance has a kitten with the extra toe. She's Trouble with a capital T. And somehow has taken to me- instead of my fiance's mother who got her as a "birthday present".

Funny thing- I own a cat. I'm also allergic to cats.

Hey Fmeh!!! I'll trade you your headaches for my symptoms: An asthmatic reaction to cat dander. Within 1hour of being exposed to a cat, I can barely breathe.

Took me about 6 weeks to adjust to my cat. The wheezing only bothers me in the morning. LOL! Causing my own suffering just to keep my Kittie! :D

By popular demand! Here's ... whatshisname (still working on that part)

I am in love :)

What gets me about this kitty is that he is so friendly and so adaptable. Within 15 minutes, he was totally comfortable in his new home. Not even our two older cats and dog phased him. The dog was happier than I've ever seen her to have a new friend, and the other cats ... are letting him live.

And check out these toes!!!
