I've never got the watching Lesbians at it thing either. It definately seems to be one of those 'being one of the boys' things to 'whoop' about - I wonder how many men actually do get all hot and bothered by it, and how many are just fitting in with the rest.

IMO the male attraction to lesbians revolves around the fact that a great deal of the men in the world would rather be female than male if they had the choice. This is because being female is inherently better. /me grins. ...well, girls don't suffer the same extent of hormone-driven mutation from the human body's naturally androgynous morphology, and that which does change has more potential for an aesthetically graceful variance - just witness FtM vs. MtF transitions and it's obvious that biological girls are naturally prettier, on average...couple that with all the cultural baggage gender brings to the table, and the potential to be treated as just a person rather than a potential zero-sum competitor is accordingly higher, online, for girls...this may well have something to do with the demographic bias in favor of male players (although certainly there are parallels amongst female players competing for attention in club culture) but i've long played androgynous takes on both genders interchangably, always as myself, and the difference is profound... ...that explains why many male players may be drawn toward female characters, but i think that's distinct from the male attraction to lesbianism, which is really more primal: biologically, women find an advantage in a strong nurturing mate and men find an advantage in a multitude of nubile mates...that single motive has historically driven a lot of the gender disparity in age preference, monogamy, and characterisation of sexual relationships... ...vicariously, lesbianism certainly appeals to men in the same way that gay relationships appeal to women - as a prurient situation in which the viewer can readily identify with and substitute one's ego for either character involved, interchangably, no potential competition within the fantasy...beyond that, though, for the same primal biological reasons outlined above, men are generally more drawn to the visual fantasy of impromptu indulgence amongst multiple nubile partners, and lesbianism's popular portrayal simultaneously satisfies all these coninciding factors, likely proving a potent tonic indeed... ...well, that's my take on it, at least... |

/112/4d/70546/1.html Not that this means anything, but it does seem to me that a lot of people in Second Life have personality traits that are more considered feminine than masculine. The fascination with lesbians has a lot to do with what the public thinks is sexy. Taken as a whole, the public think of women as sensual beauties, and men as macho beasts. Given this, it's much easier for the masses to consider two females being intimate than it would two males being intimate. I personally think both genders are sexy...the arousingness of a coupling doesn't have to do with gender as much as it has to do with the participants.  _____________________

Yeah. Should be a Jerry Springer or something, complete with tears and recriminations. Not fun in RL though.  It should have a warning label that says "real lesbians *were* harmed during the making of this show." (cause they are) Real is always at risk of being hurt, if you live here... If this is just a game, who cares? But I live here. And regardless of why, when a relationship breaks, it really hurts. I lost a friend who left SL. She and I were just friends... But I, Real, cried when she told me... Lesbian or not, real feelings are very much at risk here It has something to do with Really Caring, I think.Recently I nearly left SL for good, because I had hurt someone I really cared for. It's part of caring, and I don't think that can be limited to being lesbian or otherwise. Hugs, Dianne, if that helps... It usually helps me a whole lot though it fixes nothing... |

The appeal of lesbians is simple... we always covet what we can't have. And... most men find other men rather icky and can't really understand why any woman would be attracted to them when women are so much nicer. We want to be that appealing, but only if we can have our cake and eat it too.  _____________________
