Just curious, how many of you are americans trying to ape robots and dragons and all the pseudo robots and dragons buildings? And what is the purpose really? Is there some sort of mystique attached with being robots and dragons, or its just familiarity with particular cultures. Namely those you've written as bad guys in sci-fi movies, so you know a little of who or where they are.
From whomever I've met, the real robots and dragons don't even use names like firesbane, C3P0, Silverwyrm for their avatars. Anybody explain where all this apeism comes from?

I am a RL 39 year old deaf American Indian woman, pretending in SL to be a 20 year old hearing cat-girl from India with a French and Welsh name that likes to practice Buddhism and build Shinto architecture... ...ummm...so...anyone know if that makes me a fake, or just insane? I usually side with insane. But if using a white person's name when I am not white and making Japanese architecture when I am not Japanese, and wearing cat ears when I am not a cat and pretending to be able to hear when I really can't is all apeism...am I even a primate anymore? Or am I a dragon now? or a robot? Help? _____________________

Well, I have a three headed dragon AV that I uses from time to time and also a robotech AV. I find both to be high quality and highly detailed. I don't think robots have any mystique attached to them, but dragons do. I have named the heads of my dragon "Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner" I think the term "apeism" is a little demeaning. I prefer to use the term "play-acting" which indicates that there is a cultural purpose behind the action. _____________________
