This is about whether Second Life will run on Windows Vista and it's Off-Topic? I'm confused...

Will Windows Vist run on the new Mac Intel Duo core machines? So far XP does. Briana Dawson Can't see any reason why not, should anyone want to do such a horrible thing to a lovely shiny Mac.... |

It's still bloatware, though, even if by the time it gets released we'll all be amazingly overspecced. OS X will run with 96 meg RAM on an old 366 MHz G3 - not quickly, and don't try doing more than one thing at once, but it'll run happily enough, I've done it. And that's not exactly a lightweight OS. In fact, with every release it gets faster on older machines. This isn't an advocacy thing, it's just that clearly it's possible to write a decent OS that's also scalable. MS are shooting themselves in the foot if they demand that people also buy a new PC if they want Vista. Most people keep computers for years, and they're going to say "no thanks, I'll stick with what I've got". There are people out there still running 98 for that exact same reason. yea, the whole "3D Desktop" thing? Pfft.... why?? The only thing that caught me by surprise was to hear MS was rewriting parts of Windows for Vista. Thats gotta be a first!! Normally it's just a patch here, patch there job, Or just keep it & embed it- much like NetBIOS, etc. And Vista will probably not boot on a Mac. Already been reading about that. Since MS re-wrote the code for Vista it wont boot on the Mac unless Apple rewrites Boot Camp to work with Vista. For the OP: SL should run on Vista.... when Vista comes out. If you havent heard by now, it's been delayed till the end of the year/early next year. |

The thread about the registration system used on <third party site> is still going strong in General, as is a thread about communism (which is an economy thread actually).
