Iran is not necessarily an "imminent threat". There is absolutely no evidence that weapons grade nukes are being produced.

.

There wasn't a whole lot of evidence Iraq has WMD either, didn't stop George.

Umm..why would anyone trust what our administration says or our intelligence estimates say???

How bout we get the U.N. behind us this time and get other intelligence that Bush and cronies can't manipulate to suit their needs. And then if we do go to war with Iran, let's do it as part of an actual large U.N. approved action instead of just our Oil Company controlled government declaring war.

And let's not do any more military actions with Bush as our president. I think we've been shown his corruption and incompetence vividly enough to not make that terrible mistake again.

While I completely agree with you in principle, getting the UN to gather a strict consensus AND acting on it in a decisive manner is like herding cats stoned on catnip.

are you kidding? the media is suppressed?

Please, tell us about your deja vu and the how the media is suppressed.

I already outlined why I think so. Now comon Reps, you can do better than insults, or is that you're only defense?

huh? "Reps"??

If that was aimed at me... well, nevermind, you'll just think I'm insulting you.

I am not defending anything. I am simply asking if you believe your own statements. I figure I had better repeat them for you so you have the chance to re-evaluate what you've said.

I gave you the benefit of the doubt and took a look at this thread again, and honestly, I can't find where you outlined anything relating to media suppression.

Please, provide a link or something!

And remember, you are the one saying "suppression of the media", not me, so try to make the argument plausible

my 2 cents...

nuclear weapons potentially affect the entire world, not just a few random countries. it is a global issue, and as such, a decision should be made by the global community. i agree that there should be regulations on who should be able to practice nuclear technology, hopefully preventing a less-than stable government from attaining nuclear weapons. however, i loathe the elitism of the US when making these types of decisions for the rest of the world. the US is not the only major power in the world, and should not be the one to decide what country is, or is not, allowed to enrich uranium. this is an issue that should be handled jointly by the UN, EU, and other global organizations.

who makes the decision is irrelevent. In the end the US will carry a great deal of the load however it all works out.

My fear about Iran consists of the following...

1) That this will lead to Iraq Part Deux, with all the bungling and loss of life (as well as fiscal irresponsibility and outright graft), and the eventuality of small-scale mushroom clouds from our side.

2) That the sheer /aggression/ of this administration will lead Iran to build nukes even if they weren't, and all the potential horrors therein.

3) That the tunnel vision regarding Iran will prevent us from viewing "allies" with the requisite suspicion - if we lost Musharref in Pakistan, we would have an EXTANT nuclear program falling into the hands of avowed fundamentalist Muslims - and this is not a farfetched proposition.

4) That no one will point out "uh, guys? Remember what was going on in January, February of 2003? Remember the "threat of the mushroom cloud"?"... and the people who led us into what amounts to a war crime the first time will be given the authority to throw more of our troops into the grist mill of a war that will be endless and mutilate MORE people, simply because apparently most people have the attention span of guppies and the memory of mayflies.

ResMod Action - Warning

Please refrain from using vulgar language when referring to our world leaders. While we may have our own views on who is doing right and who is a few brain cells short of a pair we don't have to go calling them inapropriate names.

I completely agree. As the saying widely attributed to Voltaire goes, "I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

I urge you, DO NOT attempt to stifle the right to free speech. That is one of the precious few rights that we still have in America (and if those in power have their way, even that threatens to disappear). Anything less than fully free speech is censorship.

Uhm.

...Oh dear.

This will not be pretty.

WOW I find this a completely inappropriate use of your position as a resmod to further your own beliefs and agenda.

Who the hell CARES what you feel is the correct way to speak about world leaders? It's not your place to dictate your opinion on this to others, and it's certainly not your place to use your position of authority to force others to adhere to your beliefs.

You owe everyone an apology missy.
