I just found a link in the news to an interesting forum. It's a travel forum that normally talks about getting good deals, etc. however, one of it's regular posters is in Israel, within sight of the Lebanese boarder and another one is just across the boarder in southern Beirut. It's riveting reading. The two names to look for are Dovster (in Israel) and BEYflyer (in Beirut). Here is an example from BEYflyer (who lives near the airport that the IDF has been bombing the hell out of): “That last attack was from the sea. Not sure what they fired out of those ships, but I could see the missiles flying over the sea for a few seconds before hitting their targets. So those ships are pretty close to the shore. Next there were a couple of fly-bys and leaflets were dropped over the area warning of an attack. So we ain't seen nothing yet... This is going to be a very long night indeed... Be safe Dovster...” Check it out : http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=563147&page=2&pp=15The posts start in May, but the current stuff starts on page 2.

Someone should've used something more potent than gas last time.

From: Phedre Aquitaine What, precisely, is that supposed to mean? Gas wasn't an efficient way to kill. Bullets would have been cheaper and less time consuming. Which goes to prove that it was all a hoax. Now they've come back to bite the world in the behind, and no western superpower will lift a finger to stop it, because they are just hapless grinning puppets.

This kind of thing is exactly why the internet is a phenomenally good thing for people everywhere - the days of wartime government propaganda being the only source of information are truly over now that people on opposing sides of a conflict can chat directly.

~Ulrika~ Agreed. Totally aside from C.M's complete denial of history due to a bias based upon some misplaced sense of racial, cultural, and/or religious superiority, the poster in question displays a very basic lack of detailed knowledge of historical reailty. For example, C.M.'s point about bullets versus gas: the original Einsatzgruppen which were detailed with mass killing of Jews did in fact use bullets--making large groups of people dig their own graves and then lining them up and machine gunning them. In many cases the SS men and feld gendarmes, or their local collaborater volunteer assistants even used carbines or pistols at close range. This however, was found to be too slow and inefficient, which led to the use of gas chambers. The simple expedient of using overwork and starvation to kill became common as well, as the Reich needed all the resources it could find and slave labor was useful for certain purposes. On top of that, this has completely derailed what was otherwise a potentially interesting and informative thread.

It's just not something I see happening from your post. <waves a hand> Will someone PLEASE give this man his check and offer him an invitation to the world?

If this thread can get back on topic, I do not see a reason for it to be locked. Otherwise it will be locked for Flaming & Trolling ( Guidelines) and Intolerance ( Community Standards).

But unfortunately, the accuracy and complete lack of ability to check on the "source" makes "internet reporting" next to useless, except to the most naive and to conspiracy theorist supporter types who will believe anything they read that supports their point of view.

Otherwise it will be locked for Flaming & Trolling ( Guidelines) and Intolerance ( Community Standards). Have you had a chance to look at the post in this thread that states: From: someone Someone should've used something more potent than gas (on Jews) last time. That was the reason this thread received so many ARs, not that it was off topic. How does this post remain in light of it being such a trivial example of a ToS, ethical, and (in some countries) legal violation? Is this person being disciplined for such an obvious transgression? ~Ulrika~

That answers that question (i sent it to LR when i first posted; they have yet to respond). Pending Linden Review this thread is to be locked. Locking for Intolerance, Flaming & Trolling. Forums Guidelines: From: someone Flaming, Spamming, Trolling – Flaming (posting a message that is intended to incite anger or directly attack a person or persons), Spamming (multiple posts of the same topic or discussion), and Trolling (a post with an intentionally contrary opinion written with the intent of inciting or getting argumentative opinions) are strongly discouraged. If you think your post might be over-reactive, or that it might fall into one of these definitions, please reconsider posting. Community Standards: From: someone Intolerance Combating intolerance is a cornerstone of Second Life's Community Standards. Actions that marginalize, belittle, or defame individuals or groups inhibit the satisfying exchange of ideas and diminish the Second Life community as whole. The use of derogatory or demeaning language or images in reference to another Resident's race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is never allowed in Second Life. Only left the thread open because it isn't really right for a thread to be closed just because of one poster.

Umnnnn. Far be it from me to make a resmods life harder, but...
Re-read the thread. Note where the fecal matter hit the turbine. Allow a response that deal with the issue.
I'm not saying close the thread, as it IS a useful topic. I just think that a comment of that level of poor taste needs to be dealt with quickly and effectivly.
Thank you for your time and effort.

Linden Review is slow, especial on a Sunday. Until it gets reviewed, there is little I can do without overstepping my authority.
I am aware of that a number of European countries have laws against this specific variety of hate-speech.
It boggles my mind that anyone could deny it happened. I honestly wanted to believe it was just trolling. I did not want to believe he was serious. I have been to the Holocaust museum in Washington DC when I was in school; was a window showing the darkness that lies in the human soul. it saddens me to know there is a door in each and every persons heart that leads to such atrocities. I didn't want to believe he opened it.
The first AR I saw on the topic was it being anti-semetic; the Holocaust targeted more then just those who were Jewish. The Gypsies were another group targeted (the only other one that comes to mind at the moment). This is more then just anti-semetic.
I'm sure when LR see this thread action will be taken. We (ResMods) aren't involved in the punishment process and are usualy not told when punishments are given. Sorry for not stating i had already sent the thread for LR (LR does editing and the such on threads).

I've reopened this thread and taken the appropriate disciplinary action. Intolerance isn't allowed here. At the same time, I don't want inflammatory comments to cause an otherwise productive thread to get locked prematurely.
