Friend of mine is having trouble.
Makes me too scared to log out!

8:57 - She just got in for no apparent reason after numerous tries and using secondlife://Ahern/128/128/.
Recieved the message that the area she'd been in had crashed when she finally got in. :p

the last half week, SL has been awfully lagged, and now I can't even get in. Hurrah. Is this what I pay my subscription for?!

Well, I waited through the 10 minute login queue. When it finally loaded, SL barely responded and looked like this:

Very odd.

If your "Login Queue" process is taking longer than fifteen minutes, try closing Second Life and click on secondlife://ahern/120/0/ to load Second Life. Log in, and you'll try to log into Ahern instead of your last/home location.

If this still works, try troubleshooting your local connection with the following:
1) If you have any firewall/internet security software, try disabling it completely, then log in.
2) If you're using wireless networking, try using a direct wired connection. (One resident reported that his wireless equipment interfered with Second Life even though his computer was wired; he had to disable the wireless functionality to get a solid connection. I also watched someone at the Varnish party have connection issues directly tied to the wireless, even though the main computer at the show was connected fine.)
3) Try tracerouting the Second Life server to see if your ISP or a third-party connection inbetween you and SL is having problems. (This is especially important if you're outside of North America.) A repeating traceroute, such as WinMTR, works best to detect dropped packets and the like. There are steps at the following link:

http://secondlife.com/tiki/tiki-index.php?page=Experiencing+packet+loss

There may have been network issues related to a server problem from last weekend (3/5), but there aren't any current issues that I'm aware of.

I feel thats becuase Second Lifes "Network Infastructure Upgrade" has more than just slowed down the system. I wish i had my paws on a couple OC-3 lines i could like lend linden labs. This is just rediculous, but thats just my opinion whats yours?

I'm also having this problem.

It's not like the usual login queue-- usually when it's just a long queue if you hover your mouse over "quit" it turns back to a pointer-- whereas now, even after 10mins it's still stuck on the hourglass.

It seems like the problems we had over New Year to me. But I'm a complete knownothing. :-)

According to the ops team, they have done everything they can to minimize the log-in queue problem. It should get much better after we release v1.6 (not long now -- if you want to help test, please download the preview version!)

I'm timing it..... 10 min so far.

I was going for a new personal height record too! Lol, i was up to 43k meters high!

Edit: I made it, and just as i logged in i went crashing towards the ground, i didn't have enough time to keep me from being splattered :-(

well I wouldnt mind if mine was just waiting, at least it would have a chance to get in, but now when it gets stuck at the login queue second life just freezes. Luckily its easy to tell when its frozen(when I put my cursor over the quit button it should change from one icon to another, if it doesnt the game is fozen), but still keeps me out of SL. BTW I was in the game only about 2 hours ago and I got on fine that time, but I was having the same problem at about 1 am this morning when I crashed.

I actually have this problem as well half the time, whether SL
is working or not, on the login queue the game will freeze on
me, generally I just leave it alone and browse the forums, once
I get in I get a little bit of IM spam and I know I'm on. Lately the
login queue has taken about 15 minutes to get through, nothing
major on my part, but I can see how this could pose as a major
inconvenience to someone else.

sounds like my problem, sometimes it works, sometimes no. Is there any kind of solution to this? I got a response in email from LL saying to just wait it out....that doesn't work.

Yea, 'waiting it out' doesn't work for everyone. I've got a few
friends that play as well, two of them don't have any problems
at all when they come on, and some can let their comptuer sit
at the login queue for an hour and nothing will come of it.

About how long have you waited for the login queue?

Is this still an issue for people, since lately its happening far too often for me... Seems to happen whenever im going back to my last location of my land in mowry...
just freezes and program "not responding" so i crash it out ... or should i be leaving it even though its not responding?
