Ok - for some positive feedback. I noticed that straight vertical lines above the water level were no longer refracting, so the refraction now looks great. Also the view from under the water is now brilliant.

If you could combine those with the old appearance of the water without people crashing, that would be the perfect solution. :)
Nah, the perfect solution needs to include the way the ripples were affected by the shoreline like in the old version from preview too. :D:p

Hmmm, he said he'll fix it. He listens. And he delivers. Cut him a little slack on this one maybe?

There's a really glorious upside to the current "quirky" ripple water, and that is: it's perfect for alien landscapes. Over a decade ago, I played a game called Spectre VR. Primitive compared to now, but there was something lavishly alluring about controlling minimal tankbots on a barren, black landscape marked with dots and other obstacles--including QuickTime video playing on cubes, something that I'm reminded of when looking at QT inworld on prims.

There was one opponent you fight, I forget the name, but it was a subsurface-dwelling sort of digital shark that would leap up and buzzsaw through you. I wondered, "What if the Spectre tanks were amphibious and we could fight through a slop of oil or have to tear through algae, and heavens forbid, coral reefs?"

So, just now, I was looking at the ripple water, and all those memories came back. I felt very emotional, and it occurred to me that some dreams do come true, even if it takes years.
