I can now not use several programs I need in order to function in my daily life. - Trillain fails to load (reinstall of the application did not solve the problem)
- Yahoo Instant Messanger fails to connect
- My Network Places will not open (I assume Internet Explorer is broken, as that's what runs this). Niether will My Documents or My Computer
- My coputer froze after only a few minutes into my first attempt to write this post.
- Upon restart Explorer.exe crashed (I/O Fialure of somesort)
- FireFox (which I am using to type this) is slow to respond. I believe that the only reason I am able to type quickly is because of the keyboard buffer (in fact, Windows as a whole is very unresponsive--I can not bring up the task manager. Edit: I was able to bring it up, several minutes AFTER hitting ctrl+alt+del and I got about 40 of them).
I should have taken the fact that the patch did not dow load successfully as a bad omen of things to come.

yeah i think theres a problem with 1.10
i've had to buy and have installed a new motherbord, mabe it is'nt s/l but as soon as that update came in, tick my p.c. would not run correctly, being a premium member and fan of s/l i hope that was'nt the trouble.
what i am finding hard to believe though is the fact i am haveing a blank screen more often then not in 1.10
i'me useing windows xp i have 256 ram (memory)
useing an nvidia geforce fx 5200 with 128 bit and 256 ram
i have a pentium P processor
i'me getting verry worried about what s/l is doing to my computer and would'nt mind a linden helping me
i'me running an 8 megabit connection aswell

I have not had any BSoD, although I had to force my computer off several times (and the 40 Task Managers leaked RAM like crazy and I got that "fixed" by killing Explorer.exe) Stable right now, but still without my IM clients.

I could barely understand what you said, but my computer isn't suffering from the effects of overclocking or anything else I did, as my computer is not overclocked and has the same hardware I purchased it with (albeit with a replaced motherboard because the ethernet port broke ~6 months ago).
My problems started within a minute of installing 1.10, I had enough time to log on before my computer came to a screeching halt. Forced restart: Trillian doesn't work, try YIM, no good. Take a screenshot and attempt to upload it to some webspace I have: My Network Places (and My Documents, etc.) don't work.

Point is how can the second life client cause your system to break? Its just software running the computer no hardware is installed. If its cauing your firsewalls etc to break misfunction etc......I highly doubt its sl client doing to you. Thats my point.......

Gee wow! I suppose I should join on the SL broke stuff bandwagon! Oh god my arm is broken, it must be SL 1.10! My car won't start after I install SL 1.10, HELP SL BROKE IT! My cat scratched me just as I installed SL 1.10, IT MUST BE SL'S FAULT! BURN SL!
Do yourself a favor and clean your PC that I'm sure is riddled with virii/spyware and quit using SL as a scapegoat for your own user error and lack of knowledge. If virii can't break your motherboard, does it seem logical that SL can? No. If hardware breaks, it's your fault for the lack of cleaning and/or faulty hardware.

So far my virus scans have detected nothing, zip zero, nadda as they should, because this computer is VERY clean. Of course, having to do all of this WITHOUT explorer.exe running is a pain in the a$$ (go command prompt!).
And I'm not blaming all my problems on Second Life. If I was, maybe I'd say the reason my dog got under the fence again was SL 1.10's fault. But I'm not. It's my other dog's fault for enjoying digging holes too much.

I should have taken the fact that the patch did not dow load successfully as a bad omen of things to come. I think this is a coincidental hardware failure that had nothing to do with installing 1.10. There's just no way that SL could have caused all of those varied problems. To be honest, it sounds like your hard drive is dying.

To be honest, it sounds like your hard drive is dying. People have said that. I will check the hard drive later. However: Technical support for Trillian replied (as I was able to generate a crash log) that wininet.dll is what's giving Trillian problems. Does Second Life touch or use this file?

1.10 is tearing my computer TO PEICES!! NEED HELP! I cant even go in game for a half an hour until it crashes to my desktop!!! 1.10 is the worst update ever!
- It reset my Trillian - Cant even use IE with SL up - Refuses to work when I have Real Player up - I had to lower my draw distance to 96 meters to even move! - Lag Lag Lag - Crashes to my desktop in a half an hour after logging in - Eats literally EATS my memory, ALL OF IT - Sucks up my system resources - Refuses to send a crash report - Have to manually shut down SL on a regular basis - Have to close Crash Report manually, otherwise it wont stop
My computer is beyond up to date to play this. And No, this wasnt the minute I installed 1.10, this all started the day after, my computer is free of viruses, spyware, anything that could mess my computer up. I have over a gig of memory, a good ATI Radeon graphics card (9250.) Internet speed at 2mbps. THis is not my problem.

Lexie, you listed 2 very important things about your computer but are missing 2 more. How much ram do you have and what processor. If you want to multitask with SL you need to get yourself a hyperthreaded processor or a dual core since SL will use up 100% of your CPU. Some ways to make it easier is to lower the priority of secondlife.exe in your task manager and minimize the game, not just change to a different window. SL is a very demanding program you must understand this and its never going to change. I lower my draw distance to 64 all the time and I have a video card much more powerful than yours, this is no suprise to anyone and should be expected. What it sounds like is you are low on ram a lot, but I can only assume this since you never listed how much you have.

If not I suggest you try them from www.omegadrivers.net a lot of people have good results from there. The whole Trillian and Real Player thing, no idea what’s wrong with that. I have to disagree with your opinion of this update being the worse, did you see what happened when 1.6 came out?

I have 1500 mb of ram, more than enough to run SL and other programs, Pentium 4 with HT. Like I said this isnt my problem.

From: Lexie Russell a good ATI Radeon graphics card (9250.) Internet speed at 2mbps. THis is not my problem. That is hardly a good gfx card, also you do know that a few things changed with 1.10 that may require you to udpate drivers.. its very common sense to keep those update anywho... Now INCASE you decided to hard reset your computer due to a SL crash and then your applications started to fail that is fully on you... I had a few folks tell me they did this... and blame SL... that is not SL's fault.

Works equallyas good as my guys, and sometimes even better, and his is about 800 USD. Good enough for me.
And im not blaming SL just because I dont know whats going on... It all started when I updated and installed 1.10... Therefore SL is the probable cause of my problems.
Another thing, my drivers are all updated as well, have been 2 days before 1.10
That continues to be my opinion.. Since all of this started a day after 1.10 was released.
I think you all shouldnt say that some people are making this up. I dont. When I have a technical issue, I come straight to the forums. And since my problems occured, once again, a day after 1.10 was released. I believe this is the problem. And frankly, I dont care about others problems. I care only about MY gameplay. And its been severely screwed with since this update. I cant log on now for more than 10 minutes without crashing. And I know alot of people feel the same way I do, and are blaming the same source I am. I speak for myself. Not anyone else. I dont make this stuff up, just to put pressure on LL, for no reason.

If Trillian is generating a crash ump file, send it to Cerulean Studios and see if you've got the same .dll broken as I do. You and I are seeing a very similar problem (no viruses here, possible hard drive corruption, have not run a diagnostics for that yet). I do have a less able graphics card, but it seems to be working fine (and I hear that the Radeon X1300 isn't having that great of luck with SL anyway).

I updated my drivers and downloaded SL 10 without deleting the old drivers or last version of SL and the PC is running sweetly. Maybe being on the upside down part of the planet helps This Aussie hopes you get your PC problems sorted.
