I dont care what causes it, my frame rate has gone down the tubes since 1.8.2.6, I used to hover around 15+, now I hover around 0, sometimes getting as good as 15, but mostly at ZERO!!!, I didnt change anything there for the problem has to be on Lindens end. Also I dont have any prior data about my bandwith but I know I have more than the 25 it is hovering at.

PS: Those that want to know, here is my system
256Meg Ram, 1.2 Ghz, ATI Radeon 9800, Cable modem (not sure the speed promised by the cable company but I believe it 750 (units??)

Terrain Detail
01-26-2006 16:07
I seem to be having some oddness with the terrain detail setting. At the medium setting there is almost no detail on some of the terrain in the middleground, but a medium level on some terrain farther away. The nearly featureless stuff is rocky texture, appearing as a nearly featureless gray, while the farther away stuff with much more visible detail to it is grassy.
I don't think this is how it looked pre-1.8.6.2.
This could be a problem with a particular sim or texture, I suppose.

Grrrrr! 128mb cap
01-26-2006 16:33
Okay, since the most recent update, I cannot select above 128mb video RAM. I have an nVidia GeForce FX-5600 with 256mb RAM. I have the latest ForceWare drivers, and the information tab shows it's running at AGP 8X. So, what's the deal? I've tried the -noprobe switch but to no avail.
Help!

Eh, 256Mb of ram can be a pain but with the texture cache defualting to large, you're gonna have major problems with freezing. THis is down to leaking into virtual memory which is slow, so when you pan that camera or explore further into a newly ressed area it's gonna keep freezing because it's grabbing textures from virtual memory. The only advice I can give is not to run too many programs which are accessing the same hard drive as your pagefile at the same time. Will make the freezing less painful. Help! The newest update forces to 128Mb if it can't detect your video card's RAM, it's a quick workaround for the moment. I still say, if it ain't broke, DON'T REMOVE IT!

Becky Hmm, I didn't really notice a slowdown, until I went to Help Island to check on things. I usually get 30-40fps there, today I was getting 10-15, in addition to frequent crashing thanks to the newly-unfixed memory issues.

1.8.2.7 Fps

After the update, my FPS went up, Hovering around 10, getting down as low as 5, and up as high as 20, so that is a step in the right direction.
