I "froze" -- lost all bandwidth in my CTRL+SHIFT+1 menu around 12:30am EST and decided to logout. I am now not able to get past the "Logging in. Second Life may appear frozen. Please wait." screen. I eventually get the "Unable to connect to Second Life" message after the viewer times out.

I got dumped from SL (said sim I was in was going down) and now can't get back in either. :/ Stupid SL! LL seems to have time to add new features but doesn't seem to get around to fixing the actual BUGS!

How about a link resetter?

secondlife://Plum/

This helps me out when I'm in a bind.

Still unable to connect, Torley
12-04-2005 22:20
Torley, I just tried connecting after a reboot and I still cannot get in. However, I didn't receive a "sim going down" message as others have reported.

I am able to traceroute and ping what I think is the login server but it will not let me in. I see there are 3,000 people logged in and only a few of us with this problem. So far the pattern seems to be limited to those that were logged out or locked up.

Maybe we are showing up as logged in and the server won't let us back in as a duplicate. Hopefully the detection setting and timeout length works in our favor!

Support contact
12-04-2005 22:25
Obviously this is more than just an isolated viewer problem on a few of our workstations. I am looking around the Linden website for a way to contact their on-call people but I can only find support@lindenlab.com as an option. Anybody have a better way to get in contact?

Well since I'm inworld I'm gonna go ahead and let a Linden Liaison know... see what's up.

Everybody is "on a router"
12-04-2005 22:28
Yes, I have a router at the site I'm connecting through but it is not the culprit of this problem. The fact I can pass traffic back and forth with the SL login server means something else is causing the problem.

I'm just gonna say that I had this same prob yesterday, at the same time... and I disconnected my router and connected directly as I could, and it worked like peaches.

Dunno why, and it likely won't work for you from what you're saying, but this is dejavu.

Rippleshock.

I'm having the same problem.

Strangely, I can't connect if I pick my home sim, or any sim North of my home sim (Isabel) for that matter.

I can log in at Anzere, but teleporting home fails & times out.

Flying manually just shows a huge void as far as the eye can see about a sim north of Anzere. If I accidently fly into it, the region goes to Unknown, and I'm essentially disconnected.

Very odd indeed.

I'm not gonna pry but I wonder if this has anything to do with offline geographics.

Reinstall didn't fix it
12-04-2005 22:38
Reinstalling the viewer, clearing router and workstation cache, deleting files in cache folder, and crossing fingers has not worked so far. :)

Okeydoke that was the weirdest thing... Travis and I both flew eastward from Grishin into Laptev. He went off into oblivion, but I'm fine. He said the region was listed as Unknown and his Ping Sim went to like 10,000.

I've let Lindens know about this so they're aware. @_@
