If you'd been playing music with obscene lyrics, I could almost feel sympathy for you. But "badger badger" is an unforgivable sin.

Well I know of at least one friend that reported this guy either this morning or last night for griefing so i imagine the suspension was due to the volume of abuse reports that the Lindens had gotten for this guy .

Who would want to badger mushrooms anyway?

This gives me an idea -- maybe I'll script a badger hitting a mushroom. Now if only I could find the models...

a song with explicit lyrics is okay but THE BADGER SONG!!???

A little under a year ago I found my first true annoyance item, it was a simple one prim with an image of the famous badger with a repeating sound clip. It was free to copy and I still have it.

I'll pull it out for about a minute then retire it back into my inventory on occasion. If someone gets annoyed then I will happily retire it back into my inventory. I'd never leave it to annoy anyone.

Though if someone has their own badger sound clip looping and is ignoring pleas to stop the best thing to do is just leave the area, or if it's on your land return it to them. I'll only file an abuse report if I'm forced to.

been in SL for about 5 days and after reading this post its made me realise something very important. Users under 18 are not a bad thing, Imature people are. I know many people under 18 in the 13 and 12 category who have the maturity of someone in there early 20's. thena gain I know people in there 30-60 who are more imature then a 10 year old. this person here proves the point. for all intensive purposes he is 18 and above which qualifies him for second life registration, but he is so incredibly imature he is on the same level of the age group we keep out. I know alot of friends who are under the limit who are dying to get on SL and i know alot of people who are on Sl and shouldnt be. I propose the lindens try this out, Once every week 10 people who are under the age of 18 who want to join SL get to log on to ana ccount were they are ssigned a MENTOR this mentor will moniter the resident for one week examing what then user builds scripts and reviedwing the chat log
at the end of the week the mentor reports to the lindens and they asses wether or not the user can be granted acess
sure ten people a week seem small but consider this to be an acurate way to make sure that the peopl who are signing up are amture enough to handle the enviroment

also there parents should sign a permission slip and snail mail it to linden labs

*starts pondering a self-replicating, animated, physics badger dancing complete with song...* :D

*finishes pondering upon her death from hordes of enraged SLers...*

NO
regardless of how immature some adults seem, they are still adults and people under 18 are not. There is adult content (not just sex, but adult conversations that though they don't pertain to sex, I don't want children hearing).

So what music is allowed on PG sims anyways?

1. "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor
2. Anything by Loreena McKennitt

I can't remember what #3 is. But it is definitely NOT "MacArthur Park," either the Harris or the Summer version.

Well, I would imagine anything that didnt have extremely explicit lyrics. Most CD's come with a warning label these days if they contain anything you wouldnt want your kids to hear. :)

However, I do concede that this is faintly ridiculous in a world explicitly for adults only, as is the entire notion of PG when you consider this means 'parental guidance'.

My guess is that even many adults will be offended by some of the content that is otherwise restricted to Mature sims. We might think such people silly, but LL chooses to respect that fact nevertheless.

thread necromancy and hijack

In my first year in undergraduate dorms, there was someone below me who religiously played "Don't it make my Brown Eyes Blue" at 0200 in the morning. Every night, exactly at 2am, just loud enough to wake you, not loud enough to actually be heard. If I now happen to be passing through a place where it is playing, it sounds wrong as it is not attenuated by a floor.

I always wondered what the motivation was behind that. Some questions are better left unasked.
