Suspended for playin music i like

Yep , so im at my usual place vechile res area, and the usual guys are there who like to throw me off screen and drive at me with there cars.. so i report them each time , but nothing happens.. now today i walk by and play my music and start scripting...they then ask me to turn my music off , i said no.. so i then recieve a pm from nova linden, about me playin this music and that is harrasing others.. i take it she is friends with these players as i go away come back theyre thanking her for freezing me etc and getting me to turn my music of, so i then go on about this , so i then argue again about it and puff, suspended... ridiculous...

oh and yes id just like to add ive only been playing this game not even 2 days now.. and already suspended for no reason at all , but playing music and saying the word idiot , which wasnt aimed at anyone but myself, therefore this was not harrasment.... this is a scandal

and yes i like the game and i started paying the first day i got it... because i support the game... if this keeps up i really will have to considering cancelling aswell as telling my friends to

Well, you weren't being terribly cooperative with the Linden on duty, which isn't a terribly good thing to do... at least, judging from your post.

Firstly, I dont think he's saying he has land. No Linden is going to suspend you for 'harrassing others' by playing music on your land! Because the answer to anyone who doesnt like the music on your own parcel is 'leave, then'.

I think what he is saying is that he was playing uploaded soundclips in the vehicle rezzing area. Which is public, and therefore he could well annoy everyone else with his sound clips. And if he played it more than once, he's guilty of a 'big six' violation, and can be reported.

And secondly, on my first day in SL I successfully scripted a personal shield with a scanner and push capabilities. On my second day, I scripted an aeroplane. On my third I scripted a 3 setting hottub. What is 'odd' about that, Billy? You don't think I should be able to figure out how to use LSL in two days I guess? (Hurrah for the wiki!)

I'm pretty sure the suspension was probably fair. He's omitted to tell us what music he was playing, for one thing - it may well have had obscene lyrics which would have caused more prompt action from the Lindens on a complaint (vehicle area is pg, yes?).

I'm very very sure that Nova didnt exercise any favoritism in this matter and was simply doing her job. I'm quite sure there was more to it than is being said here, because Lindens don't go round freezing people for nothing.

I'm also pretty sure that Uber is stretching the truth when he says he called himself an idiot as his only remark on the matter

Yelling and swearing at the host, combined with smacking and harassing the guests almost guarantees an abuse report... and a ban.

Well, I would imagine anything that didnt have extremely explicit lyrics. Most CD's come with a warning label these days if they contain anything you wouldnt want your kids to hear.

However, I do concede that this is faintly ridiculous in a world explicitly for adults only, as is the entire notion of PG when you consider this means 'parental guidance'.

In real terms, I'm pretty sure the Lindens would be reasonably forgiving. The odd angsty 'f*ck' in an Alanis song is probably ok, but I doubt they'd be stoked about you playing 'F*ck Like A Beast' following 'F*ck You Right Back' followed by 'Fist F*ck', because they'd probably and likely quite rightly assume you were doing it just to be antagonistic

And having speculated all of the above, it'd still be interesting to hear a Linden answer that question.

You said right in the thread title 'Suspended for playin music i like'... that is not music, no one (sane) can actually ever say they play it for listening pleasure, and the only purpose it actually serves is to annoy the hell out of everyone. I'd have abuse reported you if you'd repeatedly played that too!

I have heard the badger song. I would have to say it is very repetitive, and potentially very annoying. It would be my guess that is the culprit. Any sound clip played over and over has the potential for getting you in trouble. One way to avoid problems would be to play songs or clips in the background so that only you hear it, with winamp or a similar player.

If that's the case, then why are *you* here? Do your parents know you have their credit card number?

Yelling at a linden will get you suspended quick enough. You should have been thankful that you were around to argue because when you were firebombing that same balance rez area the day before and Jeff Linden showed up, You started to firebomb him. You wouldnt get into trouble if you just left people alone. Most everyone here knows me and knows im no troublemakre. So dont say "IT WAS THE OTHER GUY" because I was the other guy. Not my fault.

I was there. That clip is amazingly annoying and several people asked you to stop. I saw several people grief you, but you drove them mad first so I'm keeping those names a secret. I had a very hard time not retaliating against you myself.

You've been playing this game for a mere two days, and already managed to get yourself suspended? You've been playing for two days and you were at the "usual vehicle rezzing area"? And the "usual guys are there"?

So, by the "usual vehicle rezzing area", you obviously mean the one you settled on using most often, after exploring around, finding the various different ones, and finally settling on this one? Say, after you'd been playing the game for 2-3 hours maybe?

And I assume that the "usual guys" who were there were then ones who showed up after 15 minutes of you being there, and hung around for a few hours....or who you saw on 2 or maybe 3 different log-ins to the world?

If I seem incredulous at this, it's because I think you'll find that there's quite a bit more than this world than can be encountered, much less fully appreciated, in a mere two days. I think that you should put a hold on your music, your push-scripts, your weapons and any other sort of POSSIBLY REMOTELY irritating tools at your disposal, and instead concentrate for, say, a week or three and wander around. Meet people. Check out some really neat things that people have built.

I think that it takes at least 2 weeks before you can see everything there is to see in Second Life. I know it took me that long, and now that I've seen every single thing in the world, I'm able to settle down comfortably to playing "badgerbadgerbadger" at people and hitting them with push-scripted swords.

Please, please, PLEASE take your suspension as the warning it is intended to be. If you've only been in the world for 2 days and already been suspended, it either means that :
a. This world is too restricting for a creative individual like yourself.
b. You are a griefer, plain and simple. You enjoy annoying people and will be suspended again, perhaps several times, before getting yourself banned eventually.
c. You didn't have a proper understanding of the social do's and don'ts in this world, and went too far.

If a. or b., you should leave Second Life, immediately. It's not a good match, and you just won't enjoy yourself here, and the people around you won't enjoy having you here. If c., come back, calm down a bit, and explore around. Take your time. Treat people like an adult, get to know what's around and absorb some of the great creative potential in here. While you're exploring around, you'll also, without realizing it, absorb the idea of what is and isn't acceptable. Just by watching people's interactions with each other. Just by taking subtle cues from others who speak with you.
