i was fine up until this. i even updated all my drivers. what are you guys doing? SL gets less and less stable with every update.
I cant play for more than 2 minutes now without crashing to desktop. I'm sick to death of sending the crash report. get new programmers. I'll be back when you get your $#@% squared away.

1.5.9 IS junk. What is wrong with this? Why can I only log in for 2 minute increments while others seemingly have no problem? I'd love to work on my sculpture, but I CAN'T. I don't know what phantom "problem" 1.5.9 was supposed to fix; 1.5.8.3 worked fine for me.

While I can't say that 1.5.9 is "junk" per se... I AM crashing when I teleport now. Joy overflows.
Basically, I appear in the new location, my attachments start appearing, land starts appearing, a few prims near me start appearing, then.... BAM. Crash. WHEEEEEE. Joy overflows!

Crashing fun time

At least some of you can get into the program. I lock up completely when I try to get into SL now. At least with 1.5.8 I could get to the 2 minute before crashing cycle. I don't know if multiple monitors would have anything to do with it, but this is honestly rediculous. Everything seems to be broken now. Updates should improve upon base things and not require some massive overhaul of hardware interfacing (or some other major thing) to the point where it causes people like us to completely loose the ability to stay in the program.
Maybe we all have something in common. I'm using dual monitors on a Geforce 4 Ti4200 card on an AMD athlon system.

I had it fixed in 1.58 after about 12 hours of crashing....
1.5.9 brought it back =\
switching from windowed to full screen and back to windowed fixed it for me last time....
Now it isn't =\

Now it isn't =\ ack It's a Linden conspiracy, Ferran. Against you. See 1.5.9 only came out after you said you were finally ok with 1.5.8. They obviously felt the need to put out the anti-Ferran point release immediately in response. I haven't installed 1.5.9 myself yet. If it brings back my 1.5.8 problems, I'll be coming to SF with you. Bring another cricket bat, will ya?

Im going to try turning off AGP acceleration and see if that does anything besides slow me way down =\

I have been crashing a lot since 1.5.8 and am crashing a lot still with 1.5.9 this morning as well. Before 1.5.8 I didn't crash at all.

This would be the LL favoritism conspiracy in action. All 3 of the updates have been fine for me

From: Kris Ritter and when I talk, too... I did have that with the first 1.5.8, I thought that was the issue with the chat opacity slider. Kris are you logging in as last location or home ? I finally logged in at home and requested a tp from a friend to the location desired and it finally settled down.

It's Friday morning. I'm no where near SL but was wondering if people are having the same trouble this morning as they were last night. Anyone?

crashes suck

have yall tried clearing your cache? that sometimes helps when installing a new version. that or an uninstall /reinstall of sl. the cache folder is hidden under c:\documents and settings\username\application settings\second life\ (with username being your logged in username, natch).

Do you guys have fast UI checked on in the debug?
try turning it off, and starting in full screen, then switching back to windowed after about 5 mins seems to do it for me.... If you usualy start full screen try starting windowed then switching....
It may be a "superstition" fix, but doing that stopped my crash to desktop issues....
Failing that keep checking and unchecking stuff in the UI randomly, who knows, may get lucky

Yes. I agree 1.5.9 is junk. You can blame me. I realized this morning that it is all MY fault. I messed up when moving some version tags around on files that the other developers turned in. Basically, the crash-bug fix that was supposed to be in 1.5.9 never made it. Unfortunately, I (and a few others) tested it for a while and didn't crash so we released it. Then this morning I was crashing all over! We're currently testing 1.5.10 which, in addition to the fix that was supposed to be in 1.5.9, has some stuff that I was trying to avoid including into 1.5.9. Not because they are dangerous changes but because I was trying to minimize the changes that went into 1.5.9. The good news is that Steve removed some unecessary resorting being done on objects with alha which will boost a few people's render FPS a little bit. 1.5.10 will be out ASAP, probably around noon (Pacific) today. Sorry about the inconvenience.
