Everytime I try to get on, it loads like normal, then crashes. It started out only crashing once or twice before I could get in, now I can't get in at all. What's wrong??

Have you deleted your installation, downloaded, and reinstalled the client?

The login server thinks you're connecting with an outdated version of the client. Delete everything and download the install file from the website again. That should clear whatever odd setting is causing your problem.

^^^ Yea, i tried that twice.

Tech Support said it must be my router. HE said I have to open some list of ports. I have not idea how to do that though :(

What's weird is I have the same setup I had before and I didnt have problems logging in before.

I opened the ports on my router Tech support asked me to. Still stuck at "VERIFYING PROTOCOL VERSION"

Ive uninstalled, reinstalled, turned off firewall, unblocked ports. Nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so I tried everything. Disabling the Windows Firewall, allowing the specificed ports on my router. Nothing. Still stuck on "Verifying Protocol"

I'm having a very similar problem, also on wireless internet....except I'm hanging at "Waiting for region handshake". Help please! If I need to open some ports on my router, what ones and how?

Your not the only one

Same problems and the same solutions were suggested by tech support. Any other issues with your PC? Like a virus?

I spent 50 odd minutes with them and they were no help, but the girl I spoke with really tried her best!

I have the Verifying Protocol problem too....have opened all ports and removed firewall.

Tried 2 of my PCs with same results on both - with wired and wireless network.

I don't get stuck at verifying protocol, it waits there for awhile then tells me i's unable to connect to second life and that the system may be down. I've tried some online games and they work properly so I've tried resetting my network connection in windows, didn't work so I rebooted the router, didn't work so I put myself in the DMZ and still nothing.

Same thing here

Ive had the same problem since the update, D/L'ed the update and done a fresh instal 3 times, took the wireless router out of the picture and tried with a network cable and no joy at all. Nice to see Linden Lab bother to check the Technical issue forum and post a reply after a compulsory update. Should be the first place they look considering they generally balls things up when releasng updates :/. Also cannot access my account or transaction pages on the website which no one else has mentioned in this thread.

exactly the same problem here

yup I'm stuck on the verifying protocall screen too, well it times out and then says the servers may be down. all since the update... I'm suspicious of the firewall settings as most firewalls will block an updated program by default but mine seems to be turned of.I'm using an expired version of kaspersky 6 anyone else think this may be firewall related?
