I chcked the wiki but nothing helped, I even reinstalled SL! I cant log on, it gets stuck right away at "Logging in", and then I get the old "program not responding" bit. THis is driving me NUTZ! It seems like its awlays something after these updates! Anyone have any advice here? Am I the only one having problems!?

I get a message after it sits idle for a while say that something unexpected has gone wrong. Please go to the support section of second life and report your problem. Whats going on here.. anyone else get this message?

I'm getting it more often than a succesful log in (I've done that 3 times now) one lasted 10 minutes and I logged out to make sure I could do it on my laptop as well. Then both were failing, "Unable to connect. Despite our best efforts....see log file" Then I got in on my laptop and was auto-logged out after about two minutes. Told both to log on and finally got back on on my desktop. Still logged in as I type this. Other I have chatted to have had similar problems.
[EDIT] Laptop is running again. Had several could not connect messages though. |

I have the same exact problem, this update is a huge bust. I can't log in on the new version, your not allowed to use an older version. The cherry on top of this cake, is that I'm paying for something I can't use. Way to go linden labs.

I get to the "Logging in. Second Life may appear frozen..." part of loading. Then it hangs for ages. Then when I close it I get the box that it's not responding. If I restart it, it says SL has crashed previously and offers to send a crash report. It's basically a cycle of that.
Well...I guess the good thing is it's not just me having these problems. At least it may not be my own PC causing problems. So....no help here I'm afraid. Any suggestions anyone? I even tried clearing the cache, re-installing it and logging into my last log off point and my home point. *shrugs* _____________________

It probably goes without saying, but hey! I'm stuck at the "Logging In" screen, too! Sometimes it just says "Despite our best efforts, something went wrong," but right now, Second Life isn't responding at all. God, I love these "updates," don't you?
Edit: Actually, this time I said "Cannot establish a secure connection. Often times, this means your clock is set incorrectly." ...what? What does one have to do with the other?! Yes, I know how ungreatful that sounded and realize the Lindens work hard at trying to give us, the people, what we want. I also realize that sometimes things go awry and !@*# happens. But these last two updates have really kind of @#(&!@ things up for me... The update before last resulted in me crashing in heavily-scripted areas(Sandboxes and whatnot) immensely more than I should have. And as stated, this update has knocked out the ability to log in, apparently... It's just... Eh... Have a log file. v1.9 is a bust so far, unable to login.
Now even the forums are responding slugishly... must be because too many people have the same login problems and are flocking here for news. How about this to fix SL: shut it down, refund everyone, work on it for say, a year, then invite us all back in. By then maybe all the bugs will be fixed? I think I'll start selling my land and tiering down now, I mean, whenever I can log on again. _____________________

This is frustrating.
I even re-installed the update from thier website. I see some have gotten in, cause i see them in my list as in the game. However i heard those are the ones on Linux maybe or even Mac. Either they didnt have an update or thiers arent giving them trouble. o.O Maybe I should try my linux half of my computer and test that theory out. Thanks for the link to the SL update on the problem.. They dont seem to know whats causing it either but hopefully its just alittle bug/glitch. |

Ok, if the main grid is now open, chances are so many are trying to log in at the same time that its overwhelming the servers. Think of it like going to a concert or a ballgame and everyone trying to get through the doors the same time. Not sure my analogy is correct or will help, yet I know that after every update, the same type of thread occurs.... and I really really do think it's coz everyone is trying to log in at once.
