The funny part is, the lindens KNOW it were them. got PROOFs that it were them, can READ their group name, and know that they will attack the grid AGAIN.

Yet they only give them a couple days of ban...

hello Ribblet Newt

Second Live is not a game, its something special, this type of problems can affect the economy since here people are transfering large sums of money, your argument does not apply here since this is not a regular game. With the grid issues I could not do a $250.00 transaction. In other games you just pay a monthly fee and you are done

That is so not true. You see people making transations on the internet all the time. And just because SL is something "Special", it doesnt mean its immune to Griefing. Hackers will hack anything they can/want, and the fact that you think that SL is not a game is disturbing.

It IS, a game, a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Roling Playing Game), and it will have bad players as well.

And just the fact that your annoyed just because you go kicked out of your game makes me feel sorry for you. And screw your 250 bucks.

and stop using those dumb  emotes, its... dumb.

nope. its a game.

I bought stuff in EQ at playerauctions.com - spent nearly 700 bucks on virtual items.

I dont play EQ anymore. The stuff I bought never rusted or lost value, I just lost interest. Didn't play another online game for almost a year until I came across SL and thought I would give it a try.

A long time ago, there was another life simulator. I had a house and an address in that game as well. it was like a way way early version of this game almost 10 years ago.

Money doesn't change the fact its a game.

I Had 2 Dragons Set Fire To A House Near My Club, 20 Minutes Before The Opening Started. Then They Came After The Club!!!! Trying To Bomb It And Kill Destroy Everything. Not Sure How Or Why, But Apparently These Asses Are Powerful, And Not Just To Destroy My Land But Anyones! So Be Careful. They Are Really Scary Looking. Lindens Were Called In And It Was A Huge Fiasco!

I saw Adam's house on fire right after I left Drea's Grand Opening party. Pity they torched you too. Luckily, there are simple ways to recover, hopefully no real damage done. Little vandals. THey will be banned.

Know any online where you spend 1000' of RL $ for a place you can build whatever you want it to, its a platform to build whatever you want.

Games have preset static things where you can barly do squat in, build a house , vehicle, boat, what you can image you can build it, yeh i have yet to see one game that lets you do that with total freedom unlimited user texture, come again?

Sure you can buy items for game , however those are already preset stat's and you cant change looks or anything, woopiedoo, in SL you can make your own games if you want to, with stats/looks/textures/monster/treasure/ect,,

Not a game

;P but yeh this has nothing to do with topic, we're all bored right now i think, i know i am :o

A little bit of thought...
04-30-2006 16:40
...well, it isn't something to freak out about completely. Because guess what, and the bottom line is this:

SECOND LIFE IS A GAME!

And games crash etc...and plus...we have our own FIRST life to deal with and enjoy. Go play with your kids, feel the sun on your skin...and no, they don't have a virtual sun in Second Life that radiates heat from your computer, so don't even think about it! ^-^

But seriously, enjoy your life! Real Life is so much better than Second (and let me repeat SECOND) life in so many ways...it's just like a game really, RL, and we never know when it's going to be GAME OVER! So everybody enjoy, and let these petty hackers have their fun. They can't ruin our Real Lives, or, as somebody said earlier, they would lock 'em up. So we deal with grid problems because Second Life comes Second...First Life First!!

lmao.. me 2...

Does each sim not currently gather the objects name and owner for every object in the sim?

If so could they not use this information, per sim, to limit the number of "identical object name" owned by "identical object (or avatar) key" within a sim. Do a check onrez for a current number in that sim at that time, and deny rez if X or more exist. That would stop excessive self-rez scripting, without limiting user abilities (within a reasonable number).

Maybe just to see this chaos? and all the nerds going nuts because they cant sell their virtual clothing for virtual money?

seriously... you make it sound like your surprised that the grid went down on a peak hour at a sunday.

WAIT? IT WENT DOWN ON.... A SUNDAY NIGHT? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?!

¬¬

The suprise should be that it has gone down on Friday, Saturday AND Sunday...seemingly all with the same simplictic method, I won't mention how or what they did b/c I feel that just empowers others to try the same. I think the less we talk about it, the less likely it is to happen.

That wouldn't be necessary. The number of prims it takes to actually build an object is no where near the number needed to bring the grid down. So if you build without naming each prim of your object, the object name "object", by default, would fit the check. But as long as you didnt create an excessive number, X, what ever that may be, then you would have no trouble trying to rez an object to build with.

You know I had to scroll to the top of the page just to rember the topic of this thread lol. But I'm going to like everyone else dying from boredom and suffering from the shakes of Sl withdraw stick my two cents worth in.

1.) My opinion yes I said opinino is that while Sl is on a gaming platform it really is not a game in the true sence of a game. There are no levels to attain, quests to go on or goals other than what you set for your self.

2.) For us we are not medically able to work in Rl so we are hoping we can somehow eek out a supplement to our income and these attacks can and are becoming a great hinderance to that. And since someone made referance to the compensation plan in place in the TOS subsection 3.8, it's laughable for a linden to even quote it. Read it pls it compleatly exsponges the lindens from any claim for reembursment for any reason what so ever. So let me see we own a sim and 19K+ additional meters on the mainland that translates to a daily cost for us of hummm lets see $195.00 (sim) $125.00 (mainland) = $320.00 a month x12 months =$3840.00 a year devide that by 365 days comes to $10.52054 etc.. US dollars a day then add to that our lost sales for that day you can quickly see why some ppl are and do get very upset

3.) While I my self do find some ppl's postings agervating seeing as they are simple questions covered in the wikies or by shear common sense. I do not retorte with rude insultive statements. I mean why? if it's fun for you to then you are very close to the mentality of the very greifers we are so frustrated at and I would rather you (whoever I'm refering to) would simply stick your head in a vaccume and expire.

4.) I myself compleatly find myself in the same boat as the orgional poster of this thread, I can not for the life of me understand the thought process of a greifer. Some of these ppl are great scriptors and have amazing skills. I can't script worth sh*t but would love to have 1/2 of their skills. I'm an artist in Rl and a designer for me it's a crime for someone with such skills to wast them is such a way. Skills no matter what they are in should be used to the betterment of everyone. Being a chef a seemtress a musician or a carpenter no matter what your skills are they are unique to you and you should have respect for the fact that you have these skills that not everyone else has the good fortune to also possess. I feel great saddness for the greifers and hackers out there who's one goal is to make someone's, anyones life harder than it already can possibly be. With the state of most economies it's hard enough to live let alone live well.

There end of my 2 well 12 cents worth

I'm only two weeks old in SL... and was freaking out when my DSL went down Thursday... sorry to find out you're all in the same boat... hope things are back to normal soon... and things are running smooth after my Wednesday visit from a tech who will fix my connection - see you then!
