GRID ATTACKS - I'm so naive!

Ok...since I cant get on SL, I'll babble a little about why I can not understand grid attacks. To me, they fall in the same category as RL terrorism and computer viruses...I just don't get it!

What is in someone to do that? Or better yet, what IS NOT in someone that would allow them to hurt others for no reason whatsoever.

One could argue they have a reason...they are mad at the Lindens or their dog ran away or the have a beef with someone in game. But my point being...why take down the grid? I know of two lovely couples getting married today (in game) and this Heratio fella who took the grid down has no idea what it means to them.

I am a naive soul...I just fail to understand what is accomplished by doing this to our little SL world. Perhaps the person just did it to see if they could....but now that they have, what's the benefit? Any comments?

Maybe just to see this chaos? and all the nerds going nuts because they cant sell their virtual clothing for virtual money?

If the SL... mainframe thingy.. is on UK, it doesnt matter, because probably 70% of its population come from USA, the fat-nerd land.

I Had 2 Dragons Set Fire To A House Near My Club, 20 Minutes Before The Opening Started. Then They Came After The Club!!!! Trying To Bomb It And Kill Destroy Everything. Not Sure How Or Why, But Apparently These Asses Are Powerful, And Not Just To Destroy My Land But Anyones! So Be Careful. They Are Really Scary Looking. Lindens Were Called In And It Was A Huge Fiasco!

Get use to it LL will do nothing about it they say they will to keep you all calm but they will do nothing. You seriously think there gona bannd a paying customer??? not a chance there to greedy. The funny part is, the lindens KNOW it were them. got PROOFs that it were them, can READ their group name, and know that they will attack the grid AGAIN.

Yet they only give them a couple days of ban...

I'm also kinda uninformed on 'grid down'...'griefing' etc...and agree with ya, I also am not quite sure what drives some to do this...but to them, it is fun...they get off on doing things like this...doesn't benefit them much...but for some reason, the satisfaction tickles thier pickles LMAO..and they just enjoy doing destructive things.
IN RL we lock them up.....on sl.......we deal wtih it..by losing our 'grid'.....things like that.
Yes...they often get caught, eventually, and yes it is a sad day for them when that happens....but they just move on to find new ways to destroy.
Either way......hackers, griefers....for lack of better words, truly have nothing better to do.....WE on the ohter hand.....get lots accomplished and find fulfillment in our Lives....2nd of 1st and both for many of us who use SL as a foundation for what we do in RL!

what would posess somone to ruin a good sunday for people who like SL?! this has ticked off ALOT of people! people who attack game grids are either really messed up or need some counseling!

I think what should be done is every time someone writes a new script have the Lindens verify it. Due to the fact that I see that every day the attacks on the grid are worse and I think if the Lindens do not do something about it many people are going to leave the game and it degrades the quality of the game for the rest of us. I think this all started with the one time fee accounts, while it has brought many new faces to the game I feel that some of the people that came do not have the best of intentions.

Too slow, too many personnel required, too expensive.

if there is nothing done about the constant attacks I feel that many of the Lindens might loose their jobs

If you leave an online game, just because it went down on a peak hour, Just sell your computer. or better, just give it to me.

I say ban those who do grid attacks, but leave an empty avatar in world so we can publicly humiliate them. I'll take pictures!

lol U.S. tends to be everything that people DONT LIKE but than again nearly half of its populaton is foerign,wait did i say HALF i meant nearly all of its population is foreign so i dun know much but what the u.s. does tends to affect the rest of th world, sort of like a small man walks he makes nothing,a big man walks and he makes an earth quake.

pity really for the players that do spend their money on this game and dont seem to get a positive repsonse from LL. You file a complaint, it takes forever to get a repsonse..you run a business..you're not compensated for the time lost in it. You lose items in your inventory due to someone attacking it, its brushed off as non-sholant. Meh..

I have been playing games for years, everything from EQ or DAOC or UO and a varity of MUD's. Server stability, patchs that cause other problems, etc are the same on every RPG I have ever played.

Worse experiance I faced was going into a zone only to be stuck in place and killed. Everything I had on my body was on my body that took the cooperation of almost 100 people and 12 hours to get back. This was during a raid to Fear back in the early days and i was among 40+ people that entered the zone only to be destroyed by lag that prevented movement once you entered the zone.

Another big loss, was the progression of flagging that took a year to achive to get to the point that woot, im finally flagged only to have the server reset back 10 hours. It took a month to recover from that one.

For everyone that whines and complains, tough. Can't blame the game and if you want to leave to do something else, thats fine. Heard that for years.

I do agree that non-paying members should have higher restrictions on what they can do then just purchase land. Was reading that on another post. i think its an excellent idea to prevent fools from coming in and disturbing everyone else.

well, well man, look!!
I do not talk for talks sake, the other night I was doing a large transaction of money and due to the grid going down I was not able to. This is not a simple game that crashes due to techical issues.
