No Problem! Zora did the exporter to generate the AC3D datasets from the SL client. I simply processed all of the data out into the individual elements and mesh files and built the site to support it. So it was a joint effort.

Hacking the morphs has been on my list of things to do. Now it looks like all I gotta do is write an AC to OBJ thing. From what I've seen so far, shouldn't be too hard.

Many thanks.

Morph targets. Interesting...

So, would it be possible to use these to create a tool that can recreate avatar shapes and sizes as dictated by the sliders? If so, just think of the applications for animators.

Yep, that's the main reason to have them available, and also to be able to figure out what morphs have tweaked UV mapping. I currently have a setup in max where I can morph between the default male and female shapes. Now I can add in morph channels for the appearance sliders. The only really difficult part is that morphs work by the app knowing which vertex is which in each morph target by giving each an identifying number. The associations between vertexes on different morph targets will have to be done by hand for each vertex on each morph so it's a fairly gargantuan undertaking and I wouldn't expect to see any tools that make use of all the morphs for a while.

One thing that would be really helpful (if possible) is to know for each morph target which individual slider it represents, and to know if each target represents the max value for the slider.

Awesome!

Thanks so much for this, Zee. It's something we've all been asking for for years now.

Now I just need to learn AC3D. Something tells me that program is about to get very popular among SL users.

Yes, as I understand it each of these datafiles represents an extreme.

You're welcome!

Yeah, AC3D is a great program that we've used for years. It's hands down the easiest to use.

...and to address a previous comment, I imagine if we get requests for it that we can also put up .obj files as well, but I wanted to get this posted ASAP so people could start using the mesh data atleast.

That's what I figured, thanks :) I'm especially excited to have the hair mesh at last! Thanks again to you and Zora for taking the time to do this and release it to the community.

I've imported the AC3D files into Blender, it works like a charm. :)

BTW, I checked with Zora and I think we'll try to put up an .obj version of the files tonight.

Seriously, to whom do I send my first-born prim-baby to? Zora or Zee?

I can't wait to load a bunch of hair meshes into Max + Morpher and see if I can sculptify.

=D Glad to help. Actually we're not asking for anything on this but if you happen past our home in Areumdeuli, we always welcome donations to the kiosk located by the landing point.

Also, on another note, take a moment to try the AC3D Sculpty exporter as well. Zora is preparing on a High Percision update to the sculpty plugin, but her current plugin is pretty solid already (it's distributed with the AC3D download).

Thanks!
