Wow, Amber, what an elegant rat!

Much better than my bit of half-traced scribbly silliness. ;)

Awe, I disagree! I've been too scared to try and post any attempts of people I've done. ;)
If I stick to rats hopefully no one will be experienced enough with rats to notice my anatomy discrepancies. Hehe.

I traced the human figure from a screenshot, for the record. ;)

(Out of curiosity, by the way, have you seen the art of Socar Myles? She's a non-SL person, but she also does rat pictures.)

Ok, this is kinda off-topic, so I didn't want to start a new thread but:

When using Artrage with mouse, it was always sort of lazy on my computer. Especially the paintbrush tool was reacting a bit behind the mouse movement - it's not too bad, but noticeable and distracting. Whereas in e.g. Photoshop I could cover the whole canvas with a brush rapidly, without any sensation of lag. So I said ok, Artrage is mixing colors in real time, that's the price to pay.

So today I was in a computer store buying some equipment when all good spirits left me and I've purchased an Intuos3 tablet as well

But now comes the confusing part - with the tablet plugged in and using it, brush movement in Artrage feels normal but it lags in Photoshop instead. (mouse still reacts like before)

What am I missing?

Oh, and if you can list some DOs and DON'Ts for first time tablet owner, that will be appreciated too, thanks.

Edit: This is my 256th post, yay! And there was much rejoicing...

Very funky. I have an Intuos 3 myself and lurve it.
Did you install the drivers on the CD, or have you check Wacom's website for the latest drivers:

Direct to the XP Drivers:

Intuos owners unite! Hehe.

I've found Painter's interface to get really complex and... "unwieldy" I think is the word.

ArtRage 2 has a lot of great UI design. It's very colorful and unorthodox, but at the same time, so many neat touches--I like that vertical decay when you elect to start a new drawing, or again, how elements move out of the way if they're blocking the canvas while you sketch, and soforth.

It is the kind of software a monkey would enjoy using for the sheer primal tactility, even presented on the digital medium of the computer.

Using Wacom drivers for customized pressure handling and moreso will help you express yourself further. Some programs have their own additional "scratch pads" and prefs to experiment with.

Just all very beautiful! :)

Why did you feel the need to spam every single thread relating to design and textures with a 'bump'? If you have something useful to add, then by all means. But as it is it looks to me like you just wanted to get your signature ad into a few dozen posts. And spam up the forums at the same time?

Lessons from Second Skin Labs on how to make the 'new posts' feature useless for all:

That was not my intention at all. If you can't figure out why I felt the need to do this, then it worked. That's all I have to say on the matter.

PS. Consider it a compliment that I bumped your original thread, ok
See, you've already made Heather happy!

OK. All I see is you fucking up the forums with spam. Was that what worked? Well done. Have a cookie.

I just had to buy the full version the other day. ArtRage 2 is just too wonderful for making textures with an emotionally resonant feel that look lovely, lovely in Second Life! You can really get your style across.

I thank Kris Ritter for making me aware of this in the first place, and kudos to all you artistic shamans! If you've got inspiration inside you, let it out with a few scribbles and then the dams will flood the dreariness of a day! Don't let the unimaginativity of growing up take your crayons away! :)
