Any Ideas?

What are you looking for. I specialize in female so far, but wouldn't mind working on some men's clothing if you give me some ideas of what you are looking for.

Yeah, I am starting to do more men's clothing also. I mean as a guy though I really don't buy alot so give me some stuff you want. Right now I do have some Novelty T-Shirts and Jeans. I want to do some like shirts, plaid type to wear over regular t-shirts because I personally like wearing layers of stuff.

Part of the problem with mens clothing has nothing to do with lack of ideas... it has to do with the templates used for creating clothing as they seem to be catered to the female figure. I can't tell you how many things that I have made and once uploaded and worn by a male avatar that looked extraordinarily effeminate.
In any case... I am aware of the shortage of mens clothing in SL and am trying to get a few new things up every week. -Jennyfur |

Yeah it is a problem for sure..
I have one of the larger collections of mens... about 60 items Another problem with mens is well much like rl lack of....fun clothes. Women have sexy clothing thats interesting to make. (Look up lingerie for men and you will understand) Mens clothes tends to be baggy...open..hang down..lots of pockets and so on with hoods and such which when it translates to a AV body which is flat..... very ugly or at least really hard to get it to look right or good. But there is some around and more coming. But face it women shop more and love clothing. You will notice most of the clothiers are women and they mostly make female clothing...why cause they love clothes. heheh _____________________

I think it's a misconception that men's clothing isn't as 'fun'. Granted, you don't wear frills and skirts as a man, but if you're into anything punk/goth, there's a lot more. That's why I design primarily unisex stuff. It covers both markets. There's a lot you can do within the realm of a t-shirt.
I don't design a lot of really girly stuff (though I have a few pieces, and gowns and things) because I'm aware of the lack of men's clothes. So I design for both. Another thing to think of: Just because it's displayed on a female model, what makes it for a woman only? Really, since fit isn't an issue, aside from a few things in the casual realm, why can't you wear it? Why can't you wear jeans that are on a woman unless they're like...indecently low? This of course, is leaving out the obvious like dresses and club shirts and miniskirts. But if it's a casual shirt, a man can wear it too! Free your mind. Clothing in SL isn't neatly cut between men and women, because there aren't different sized templates for men and women. I love designing for men. I think it can be just as fun to do as women's things. I also always have an ear open to what people want. Button up shirts are...really hard, harder than you'd think. I paint all my stuff, and painting a collar that looks good is very difficult, especially in white or black. Patterns are difficult too as they get really tricky to match up from top to botton and front to back. SL's templates aren't very good so it makes this kind of thing difficult. I will admit that men don't shop as much as women. I have a few male customers who I am eternally grateful for who shop from me a lot. But the majority of guys will not own multiple outfits and aren't big shoppers. So if you guys want to be considered a market to create for, get out there and cruise! Poke designers you like into making more men's things. Show them that you're a market that is worth creating for! _____________________

Yay Yuki!
I agree! Awhile back I put out a small line of men's clothes and after the first week of them being out, sales dropped off to almost nothing. I gave a few freebies away to friends, who really seemed to like the styles, so I'm not sure I can rack it up to a bad line ![]() ![]() Zana _____________________

If one of you clothing designers ever design a sharp looking zoot suit, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

You are one of the very few designers who understood early on that most women in SL don't want to dress like Cinderella or Striperella most of the time. Most of your designs are fun casual everyday clothes that still look great. I'm so glad you do what you do. ![]() |

It's nice to hear that it's appreciated. I have been tempted to go down the clubwear line, because it almost definitely sells better than my casual/funky stuff. But I haven't yet ![]() ![]() Aww, now I have a case of the warm fuzzies! _____________________

I have to recommend Trent Hedges as a choice fashion designer for men's clothes.
I find that most prominent textilemakers, even those that design primarily for women, also have a men's selection, albeit limited in comparison. I know it's tuff ![]() _____________________

It's not that men don't go shopping as much, its that we get frustrated with having to sift through 300 tube tops, bras, skirts, etc for 1 nice pair of pants or shirt. Men don't have the shopping gene as a whole. We like to go somewhere, find cool clothes and then leave, not hunt for the elusive bargain or the shirt no one else is gonna have.

I like Thai Greenacre's shop in Grignano. It is on the water facing Venice. She has some great Gatsby clothes, (slacks, vest sweater, shirt etc) I bought the complete range for Garth. She has a lot of nice things, check her out.

I do a lot of men's clothing. Mostly casual wear, though there are a few suit jackets and that sort.

I was recently to Leyla Firefly's shop and she has a line of men's cloths there now, most which is quite nice. The only comment I did hear while shopping was that all the cloths seemed to be with logo and the men were not particularly happy with having a logo across their cloths, but I really liked what she had to offer in way of the men's line... and forgive me I forget the name of the logo off hand i think it was something like Gecko or something. But for trendy fashion I would point the men in her direction... i know under my chrismas tree some lucky guy is geting a few of Leyla's outfits

Granted, you don't wear frills and skirts as a man . . . Bah! Says who? I bought one of Neph's outfits and pilfered a skirt from the woman's version of the outfit and it looks surprisingly good. A little on the cyber-goth-punk side, but it's cool. There definately needs to be more men's clothing of all types. |
