From: Chip Midnight My advice is to politely talk to the club owner and ask if they could possibly cut down on the shouts. Maybe they can use repeaters instead. If he's still unhappy with the outcome he can offer his land for sale to the club to give them additional buffer room so they won't annoy the next person as much. The most important thing is to be polite. If you create an adversarial situation with the club your chances of a favorable outcome becomes nil. Thats exactly what I did when I was faced with this situation. I had land and a club/casino/whore house moved in next to me that had scripts that shouted constantly every event that happened. The shouting announced arrivals and departures of patrons, announced who won the automatic random disbursement of one linden every minute; and even shouted the annoucement that no one was there when the place was empty. The shout script was so sensitive it picked up people on my land and shouted an announcement of their arrival and departure too. It waa very extreme. I did talk to the owner, and he didnt remove the shout or reduce the frequency or range, but he did offer to be my pimp if I would agree to be a ho in his place. I got rid of the land and got out of that situation. I do think, however, that cases where the shouting is like the situation I faced it is an extreme harassment. I could not sell the land because of this shouting problem and I ended up releasing it to just get rid of the problem because it was not worth the hassle.

It would have to be done with the premeditated intent to specifically annoy you to qualify as harassment. People are being way too liberal in the use of that word these days. I don't blame you for being annoyed enough by it to move (or hit the guy in the head with a heavy blunt object) but I still wouldn't call it harassment.

From: Chris Wilde Just so we are clear on this, how far does a shout travel and how much land do you need to own to "contain a shout"? . The entire sim.

From: Cocoanut Koala Here's a question!
It seems to me that lately, regular talking just doesn't go as far!
For example, if I am on the roof of the second floor of my build in Orion, someone on the ground below can't hear me. Pick up a copy of my Otter Monitor, wear it, and put it in "Chatty" mode. That'll tell you everyone in 96 meters, with the ones withing 20 meters (talk range) separated out. Then check whether people you can't talk to are in the normal talk range or not. If they are, file a bug report.

the mute option of their machines/employees has been brought up a cupple times but theres also the skybox option, which is super if your one to iron your land flat, but kinda stinky if you want to landscape ... thats for the person to decide but the main points of it is
if your (i think) within 300m of the ground ppl can and will be able to tp direct to the platform and you can set your landing point up there too
your up to 200m above shout range, from the ground, with a local teleporter (shout is a 100m radius sphere btw)
and usually your frames per second will dubble becuase theres not much up there
