I'd like to apologize and shed some light on what LL has been doing in regards to these issues. We are well aware of it and actively investigating possibilities to help restore inventories affected by the recent problems - in fact, a number of residents have already been patched up, good to go. We Lindens very much care about what's happening and so far we've been investigating instances of this on a case-by-case personal basis. There are actually four main things we're aware of: - Inventory missing from the database - you'll get an error message saying so, or maybe see "MISSING IMAGE".
- Returned inventory not received properly.
- Double folders (for example, two Landmark folders in Inventory).
- Duplicated folders/objects residing under the Lost & Found Folder.
Here's what to do. Please file a bug report ASAP with an apt subject line stating which issue you're having, and be sure to include all relevant details you can think of so we can help you. These details include, but aren't limited to: - The general issue you're having and specific manifestations (if you have two Landmark folders and four Clothing ones, please say so!)
- Date and time you noticed this start affecting you
- Exact names/UUIDs of affected objects
- Any other observations of strangeness
Then, right after you've filed your bug report, send an IM to Kona Linden (even if he's offline) or feel free to contact a Liaison like myself and we'll make sure you're on the list of affected residents. You can also post on this thread if you wish. Rest assured, we are paying close attention to the inventory issues and even if you may not hear from us right away, we're working on it.

While not experiencing the massive losses by the rest of you (though, I must admit I haven't checked them all), I have noticed that anything to me returned while I'm offline simply poofs. Fortunately the objects in question were either cheap, or I had copies elsewhere, though I did manage to lose about an hour of scripting work.

over the last six months I have created and acquired script examples, freebies and gadgets given to me by friends. Not to mention all the stuff I've made, a lot of it half finished experiments. I could be missing a lot of things and not realize it.
You could ask, if I wouldn't notice, why would I care?
Well I really do care, and I remain on the sidelines because of stuff like this.

I lost a dance machine tonight loaded with all the tinie dances (600L worth). When I was leaving the club people were still dancing on it so I left it out. I realize now that I had share with group checked (didnt understand what that meant). Anyway I learned a valuable lesson the hard way. It's just terrible to lose inventory however it happens. Especially when you paid a lot for something.

Share with group means that group members can move the object. You have to press the button to Deed it to the group to give members copy and modify permissions.

Twice in the last 24 hours I was experimenting with a boat, and lost my changes. The first time the boat was auto-returned out from under me, and the second time I was kicked by a security script or sim boundary crossing glitch, I don't know whitch, but I was kicked into outer space and my boat went off-world. When the boat went off-world, a dialog message said I would find it in my lost-and-found.
Both cases it is GONE, however.
Very very frustrating. NOT FUN.
The moment I get lazy and not copy my changes to notepad, poof. Gone.
