From: eltee Statosky Yeah actually to go one step further, when people do buy a replacement for an avatar we would have gladly re-sent them for free we generally will offer them a credit towards any other avatar they like. Since the item was vended with copy permission, honestly if someone pays us twice for one, we do feel somewhat indebted to them and that we should provide them something else now for their money that they should not have given us. All my vehicles are sold copy/no mod/no transfer. I have, on many occasions, had people buy the same vehicle twice, for whatever reason. I have a strict rule that you can only buy a given model once, so if you buy it more than once, and I notice (or you tell me) I will always give you back what you spent extra. Interesting, many people do this (buy a vehicle, "lose it" within the first minute or two, and then buy it again). I always notice this, because of the way I record my sales, and people are always surprised when I give them back L$500 without them even having to ask. - Jon

- Jon Hmm I've noticed this too. I think I'll put a sign out telling them they can let me know about a faulty transaction so I can send them a refund. Or a copy of the item if they didn't buy another. That seems to be happening a lot latly. Are the asset servers still a mess?

My server requires weekly replacement to fix, stuff it served one minute it won't the next.

So I sent them back the cost of one pair and an IM. I don't know if it was user error or a sim glitch, but either way the buyer didn't deserve to pay twice. They didn't contact about it, so they either didn't notice or thought it not worth trying to get their money back. (or the asset server credited me twice and debited them once, in which case the user just got a free pair of wings. ) This is a very simple exception to my no-refunds-on-copyable-items policy.

Where the hell are all of these honest people coming from? Last week, Teeple Linden told me that there are a lot of helpful and kind people in SL too..
I *totally* gotta check this out.

I sell No Transfer, so as long as I still have a record of the transaction, I have no qualms about giving extra copies of something. I also try and catch if people buy multiples of the same item, and when I do catch it, I'll either IM and ask if they needed Gift permissions on something, or refund them if it was a mistake.

Unless I truly feel I'm being taken for a ride, I will absolutely replace the item. Customer service counts for something in SL too, after all.

I would love to be able to do this, how do you track if it was a multiple purchase? Is it how your vendors or set up or do you keep track manually?

I only use vendors for tattoos, so I just do it manually and look in Transaction History, either here on the site or in-world. I check it daily anyway to see what's selling and what's just taking up space, so if things look like they're double-listed it catches my eye. Not always, of course. I'm sure I miss a few. Also sometimes I'm online and see the double sales come through and I can catch them right away and make sure they know the items are No Transfer. If I had an easier way, I'd certainly take it.

My in-world server sends an email to a special email address, which I wrote a script to read. It (the script) produces records that I can paste directly into my sales spreadsheet. The record (emailed from the server) contains the date/time, the vendor name, the product bought, how much it was, who bought it, and their key. When I paste these records into my sales spreadsheet, anomolies and patterns are easy to spot. - Jon

Sounds like a nifty vendor. Now if only I could do that without having to use a vendor, I'd be thrilled. I don't like using vendors. I'm a box kinda girl. I give my customers full replacements if they have problems or lose parts of items bought from me. I'm very new to the selling scene and I got alot of the perms horribly muddled up, so I have alot to thank my customers for when they point things out to me. I'll even set up my treehouses and prefabs for customers free-of-charge if they find the process a bit too daunting. It only takes me a couple of minutes and most times I come away having made a new friend which is what SL is about for me. That said, I download my transaction history daily from the SL website so I can make sure a request is genuine and not a scammer.
