I want to know what the public thinks, because this is what I think, I have played several online games similar to SL and I know they all did matience and everything, but to me I just feel that SL is down too often, most of the other games did their matience at 3 am and I notice when I try to log on it says SL is undergoing matenice, so I jsut wanted to get a feel of what other people think, is Second Life down too much?

I was okay with the wednesday updates back when they actually fixed stuff and added new features that weren't bugged. But lately it seems like every new update introduces a huge slew of new bugs that require more downtime between patch days...so I sort of agree...the downtime is getting a but much lately. |

I am not opposed to the weekly updates, but I think LL should seriously consider changing the hours that they do these updates. 2-7 AM PST would probably make alot more sense.

Down too much? No.
Needing more testing on new features to prevent downtime more? Yes. Needing more time to test new features to prevent all the bugs? HELL YES!!! ~Jessy _____________________

Too much? I dont know...
EVE Online id down an hour every day, and that seems to work just fine. The game functions smoothly, and is pretty much bug/lag free. Sl used to run pretty smooth as well back in the day, but I'm starting to get pretty fed up with all these useless updates that require 3 other downtimes and other subpatches to work properly. _____________________

Yeah, but I dont know about the lag and bugs... how many updates have we had where SL had to be shut down because the bugs where horrible and everyone was crashing, also I think lag is horrible... |

Fed up with it

I am from the UK so it cuts into my play time every week and as i am paying $195 a mth it really pisses me off.
I wouldn't mind so much but the updates are just making the game worse, why won't they fix what they have first, before bringing in new things that we don't need and why don't they make sure the updates work properly first? Please LL make the updates at least fortnightly if not longer. |

Yeah, but I dont know about the lag and bugs... how many updates have we had where SL had to be shut down because the bugs where horrible and everyone was crashing, also I think lag is horrible... I've personaly had never any problems with EVE, expect from huge battles where there are like 200 ppl camping the same gate, which of course will generate lag... But this is not about EVE anyway, the question is abuot SL, and frankly, as long as the updates need so much post configuring and downtimes without offering any meaningful features, I guess yeah, they are too often, in my opinion at least. _____________________

For me, it isn't so much that they are down, as they seem to be down for all the wrong reasons. It seems to be all bug fixes that introduce more bugs then they stomp out, new features that cause more trouble for people (focus, snapshot), and other such things. I'm good with bug fixes, and I can think of a lot of them I hope will be fixed when I log in later today - but I simply *expect* more troubles. Mari _____________________

I'm fairly new.. I think right after I joined there was an update that made us users carry more of the load..
This has really messed with some peoples ability to play.. Some friends lag so bad they have to reboot the game at least 20 times a night.. and 5 of those aren't by choice.. They crash.. As much as LL charges for tier and land and such.. You would think they could afford servers to carry the load so we could enjoy a more lag free game.. I know saying it outloud wont change a thing, but had to grr.. lol.. |

Yes, I think we all think that the updates arent needed, I really liked the old snapshot thing, this new one when you want to upload it, it is all blurrry, and why does it matter when I right click it does some speical feature, IT JUST CAUSES MORE BUGS AND LAG

I think there aught to be MORE downtime.
Get all the people with a low tollerance for downtime to bugger off elsewhere. -Ghoti _____________________

Same here, I usually have other things to do later in the day and I don't get to play as much as I'd like. I pay $9.95 a month to play and I feel like I'm wasting it because I'm not on as much as I'd like. I liked it when it was every wednesday and things weren't as buggy. |
