I wouldn't say that those of us who don't understand the possibilities of these features don't appreciate it. I appreciate it. And I look forward to what the scriptors will make of it.

So, uh yeah, tackle the bugs but keep on evolving.

Dito! I'm looking forward to being able to have a spot to display the website I made about Ingrid.
Talking about myself in the 3rd person is really creepy. I'm going now.

So yes, it s true the very latest building bugs are a real annoyance (vanishing/reappearing prims and Taper going to 1.0 both axis) , believe me (i literally spit prims all damn time ;) !!! But also, i know they will soon be fixed because Lindenlabs are a busy bunch and they do care for their baby, and i dont loose from view i might learn one or two things in the future to do MORE things in SL. I m happy =)

Yeah, no kidding....disappearing prims is one of the few bugs that have really bit me in the past updates, hope it goes away soon - I need to see what I'm working on :) I know it will get fixed, its just temporarily frustrating.

I've upgraded my drivers to the most recent Nvidia release, (well, to play Half Life 2 - Episode 1 release), maybe that will help...maybe not.

I'm in it for the long haul, anyway.

I think this is an interesting development, and can't wait to see where it leads. I'm far more interested in what SL could be in the future than what it is now.

I can give an example of how an in-world browser would have been of real use. A while ago I did a project called Cartifex where I mapped the terrain of SL, imported the data into 3DSMax and rendered various views. One of the main reasons I lost interest in the project was because the only way to bring the rendered images into SL was by manually uploading them. I could automate rendering by Max and write a program to transfer the files across the net, but I couldn't get the images into SL. And it just wasn't worth a large effort or worth constantly updating. Sure, I could put them on the web and give people a URL, but it's just lame to leave SL to look at pictures of SL. An in-world browser would have been great.

Personally I'm looking forward to when this inter-dimensional conflict seems irrelevant. Imagine a full-fledged web browser embedded in SL. Imagine an SL plug-in for your web browser. Imagine you're looking at a web page showing live SL showing a build with a web page. Where are you? Are you completely immersed or not immersed at all?

I'm looking forward to seeing the unanticipated things people do with this stuff.

P.S. Not really a hater hater.

I'm glad that you've highlighted all the benefits. I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was missing something that could be useful about HTML on a prim. Now I definitely know I can live without it.

Anyway, stop being so defensive. You web designers are gonna get your HTML on a prim regardless of what the vast majority want.

You damn in-world builders with your build tools that have already gotten four overhauls and constant bug fixes! So much for the artists who don't always use prims, eh? I don't use or program HUDs... that doesn't mean I don't see their benefit to many people in SL. Open your eyes, amig0! Just because YOU can live without doesn't mean SL can live without it.

I couldn't agree more with Cristiano's commentary on printers. I hate those things. Too many moving parts / potential points of failure...they're the computer related component that is most likely to break, has the shortest lifespan, is the biggest waste of natural resources: ink cartridges, paper, and tons of plastic, metal and glass that is typically trash after a year or two and very hard to recycle.

Regards,

-Flip

Thankfully, LL is convinced of the importance and is moving ahead with it, and I could not be happier about it. The fact that it seems to irk you so much is just a bonus.

:D I agree. A lot of the new features sometimes don't even phase me like I still do not know what a HUD is or what it does. I've been extremely happy with the new prim features such as flex and the lights. ZOMG I *love* the new lights especially for photoshoots -- because I don't have to worry as much about adjusting the ligh in photoshop. I am positive that the web prim interface will in fact rock. Granted, I know that not everyone will find it useful, but for those of us who do... All i can say is :D :D :D

Im looking forward to SL arcade machines with flash pac man, or space invaders actually displayed on the screen.
Now... that would be sooooooooooooooo cool.
And HTML of a prim might just do it for us.

As long as it is a no bake!

Actually, I was thinking ice cream. :)

Which just happens to remind me of this quote that I saw somewhere recently...

"Premarital sex is evil. Female sexuality must be, as ever, contained, repressed, shoved deep down lest it tempt men to sin like gleeful pagans licking ice cream from the pierced nipples of the devil."
