The Edge's land - on sale for $20,000US

The Edge is selling its spot in Da Boom for 5000000L - Five Million Linden.

At $4/kL, that's $20,000US. As far as I know, it's not the club for sale, just the land - since "Sell objects on the land" is not checked.

Do you consider this on-par with what that land is worth, considering its proximity to the Welcome Area?

Personally, I don't see how it could possibly be worth that much unless you're selling the club with it.

Some people set land for sale as another way to attract visitors right?

Setting the price really high like that would deter most from actually buying it I think, but if someone did for that price I'm sure they would not mind.

That's just daft given the existance of P2P.

That would be an absurd price even with the club, except that it borders my land which makes it worth twice that!

Reminds me of FFXI, where people could set items they're carrying up in a "Bazaar" and as other players walked by, they could buy those items off of them.

So, as an end result you'd see people walking by with semi-rare and occasionally genuinely-rare items in their bazaar set to 9,999,999$ just to flaunt it, or just to see if anyone will ever "accidentally" give them a small fortune for something nowhere near worth it.

I should buy it and put up a store right next to yours so that I can just refer people over to the skin department when they once again mistake me for you.

PS - perhaps they have hit hard times now that it is not so easy to sell free items?

Before P2P I would've been thrilled to see it sold. Anyone try to fly through Da Boom to get to Tehama? *shudders at the memory* Now I could care less what happens to it either way.

Pfft. Only if they're planning on coming to my house and offering live-in maid service for a week.

There was actualy a logic behind that in many cases. You would often see quest items shown in that manner, Cardian cards and flowers in particular. The owner was actualy saying "This item is avaliable for swap." and useing the high priced bizzar to let other high level players know what they were willing to give up.

The land isn't really for sale. The price was jacked up so high so that they'd get FREE advertising in the forums for the club. There is no such thing as bad publicity!

For just the land, I would say no. That price is ridiculous. After all, with p2p its just another sim.

Now if the club is included people would have to do some math, including a cash flow analysis, and a business analysis. But there is no goodwill that attaches to a location by itself, even if it were right next door to the welcome area, and even in the vaunted era of telhubs. Crap content near a teelhub is still crap content.

My guess is that someone picked up on the notion that LL was trying to auction off a sim on e-bay and related services for 10k and though well if some island somewhere is worth 10k, the edge land might be worth 20k.

Franksly I don't see either happening. But hey fools and thier gold...

I can see the point - a little. There was quite a bit included with that island, if memory serves. A year's worth of fees... some other stuff too, but I'm too lazy to go to ebay and look or even provide a link

I highly doubt any of those are included with this sale.

It's be worth the $20K if you could some how prevent her from ever opening the Edge in another location lol That place is a hole, a scary blingy hooker infested hole.

I think Hank has it right. It's not really for sale. It's just another sleazy ploy people use to get themselves & their venues more attention. Some people never do learn that there is a difference between good and bad attention.

Jenna does that I noticed, sets prime land...ummm, guess hub land is no longer prime, for sale at a price that gurantees it will not sell but it does invite inquiries I guess. I can only conclude she is not serious about selling.

yeah...next we will see an event posted throughout the day saying "Edge for sale event," come see the property and while you are here look at the stuff for sale.

Is there anything special about DaBoom - like increased terraform or prim limits?

If not.... this is either an advertising tactic, or someone's smoking some high quality crack rock - considering that you can pick up a new virgin sim at auction between US$1000-US$1500.

1) It shows up in land sales I think both inworld and on maps.

2) It gives more advertising ability and shows up with a special icon during any search in world in Find places.

People want to talk about gaming systems....this one not only gives 2x the advertising value but also does it for free I think instead of the 30 L$ a week cost (Though I am sure that cost is little for The Edge)

I disagree. The quality of the crack rock they are smoking is not high.
