However I don't have access to such information, unless you sign your abuse reports, which a very small amount of people do..

The point is that the forums have gotten out of hand. LL can't handle moderating them alone. The Resmod program has been flawed from inception. You think they don't know this? I guess more than "not giving a damn beyond complaining about it" is also that I do not want to contribute to making more work for the Linden forum mods than they already have. Its not like I am going to tell them something they arent aware of and its certainly not like anything relevant will be done to actually fix the forum problem. My advice still stands with chaos.

LL is really in a position where nothing they could possibly do would be a "win" for them.

broadly offensive is one thing, but simply appealing to people who can't view the forums at work because age play doesn't pass their works filters is 100% another story (they should be working, but I guess stealing from the employer is something they don't feel warrents an abuse report)

And hey - rampant thread AR gang - you can go ahead and AR this thread too. Don't be afraid just because you'll be meta-ARing a thread about yourselves. Don't hold back just because its on topic, you know you can't resist hitting that little button!

I think we should have an AR count listed right below our post count. That'll tell you a lot more about who you're dealing with, and make people actually think about whether or not its WORTH increasing their AR count to submit a report instead of doing it in the current "Anonymous Coward" method.

Well...to be honest I can't get worked up over it. It isn't as though the threads are moved to the outer darkness of the Double Glazing Fault Finder's Monthly or something. Many people I know click on new posts on arrival in the forums and read the threads they are interested in. As long as they have descriptive titles, they'll read it or not, irrespective of the thread or foum they have been sent to.

I think that generating work by reporting threads simply to put pressure on the Redmods is a childish and thoughtless thing to do. It amazes me that some people claim to be adults and then behave so stupidly. Personally I'd like to see a nominal charge of 100 lindens for reporting a thread, all proceeds to go to the MS charity that was publicised a few days ago. At least then some good would come of it.

And it seems to me that if resis stopped posting in the wrong places and reporting each other for aforesaid posting, there wouldn't be so much drama about the threads moving etc. Although I still don't understand what the problem is.

Not a bad idea, Cali...starting a thread should cost L$ too! What a great sink it would be. Of course, everyone would just move to SLUniverse then, which is probably what should happen anyway.

I think having an "AR Count" beneath everyone's post cost would curtail this activity quite a bit. There's enough anonymity in SL and on the Internet without being able to anonymously spam the ResMods.

Agreed on the AR Count thing. That was the one good thing about negative ratings was seeing how many negs were given. You could vet out the gobshites easily.... hmm 100 positive ratings given and 287490723947 negative ratings given. What does that tell you?

I've got clit, and in case you think it is me, it is not.

I spent six months NOT AR'ing things, and was told repeatedly I couldn't criticize the system unless I started AR'ing, but AR'ing always struck me as a kindergarten sort of thing to do. I prefer to use reason.

I also don't like doing things anonymously, so when I did start AR'ing things, I always said I was AR'ing something, and was told repeatedly (and none to kindly) to do it quietly and not announce it. So I said I would do it quietly.

I didn't AR a whole heck of a lot during that period. Most things, in fact, I didn't. Occasionally I would get incensed (usually because someone AR'd me), and would AR right and left for a day. Two, maybe three times I did that. And I never AR'd anybody who posted in a thread I started, on principal. I figured if I started something, I could take the heat.

Then Satchmo advised me that AR's from a certain few would be disregarded anyway. Since I always sign my AR's, that probably partially explained why my AR'ing this and that "fuck you and the horse you rode in on, you twat" didn't do a bit of good.

So I withdrew from the stinking system.

Then, the other day, seeing more sexist aggressive intimidating horrible personal attacks that NO civilized place would allow, I broke my vow and AR'd them - there were two of them. And I announced that I was AR'ing them.

Of course, when I last looked, they were still there.

In the case at hand, I agree Flipper's thread should have been moved to either events or announcements, but I was not one of those who reported it. Given the nonsense that has been going on in General for the past couple of days, I would think the nice thing would be not to take advantage of it and/or make it worse, but to try to cooperate.

The grand irony is that I have NO idea how to abuse report a thread.
