No, he's not in SL. I meant that he can't join any MMOG. Even if he were I don't have to warn him about sex. He's probably going to have his fill.

As the SL society we need to be more proactive in helping solve the problems using what has already been provided.

Those with very mature content (explicit sex, etc) should be restricting their land to "payment info on file" at the very least. This needs no scripting, just some clicks. LL is no longer liable for kids gaining access to such material because they are already covered by the reg system as it stands in conjunction with the tools supplied. Mature content sellers must therefore protect themselves using the tools.

If you are truly concerned about kids getting access to explicit material and you feel that registration is the solution, then at the least you should use those land settings.

Let's look at results.

We have three groups to consider:
Group A: unverified, underage
Group B: unverified, of age
Group C: verified (supposedly of age)

Setting the registration to the old system:
Group A: nonexistent
Group B: nonexistent
Group C: full access

Drawback: unverified people of age are denied SL

Using the current system + the land tools
Group A: present but restricted to PG and areas that are not "verified only"
Group B: present but restricted to PG and areas that are not "verified only"
Group C: full access

Drawback: kids will be present in unrestricted areas of the grid.

A lot of good people fall in Group B, some are friends of people in Group C.

Neither system is perfect.

In HI 2 weeks ago, had a newbie that was acting suspiciously "unadultlike" and eventually he admitted he was 13. So I contacted, ARed, and apparently he turned himself in to Nigel. So yes, getting them to admit does work.

5 days ago, someone appears on HI that's got the same first name. Asks if I remember him. And saying that "the lindens disabled my other account, <name withheld>" etc etc. So this time I just AR, pasting the chat in (as I don't want to be bothering the Linden that I believe handled the first 'him', as this guy makes alt after alt, over and over again). Reminded him that he really should be in the TG, and asked him to contact LH or a Linden and he then said "No, they'll remove my account"...

So it's 5 days later and he's still alive and kicking on the MG.

So yeah, if you can't get them to admit it to a Linden, it looks like the kiddies are allowed to stay.

Mebbe it's time to resign as a Mentor and join the NCI instead.

If you can determine that an avatar which you find in an adult area is in fact a minor, I would recommend calling the FBI and notifying them. With the open registration, and apparent lack of concern from LL regarding the safety of children, it might be the only way to get this handled.

as far as underage in sl - not a problem - ignore unless their a$$hats

but please dont go random shouting 'UNDERAGER!' to lindens, and lindens please get some proof before disabling accounts, i'd like to get my main account back (Kornation bommerang, which i got in the old registering days when you needed id, and used my own credit card to get grrr...), but after no reply from various emails (well i got one reply fom Adam Linden - and it was totally blank) i am starting to get pissed off, i only work 3 days a week due to illness, and pay goes to bills/food/rent etc, money is very tight! the email says they will accept 3 types of ID - Passport (costs ££ and time), Drivers licence (again ££ and time) and birth certificate (which was cheapest so i got it and found out they stick a 'not to be used as ID' disclaimer on it (do they do that in the US/Canada?)).

I used my card as ID to get the accounts, which proves age at 23 years old (D.O.B in bank details), did not commit any greifing, and (dont think) i have a 'sl police' profile, infact these accounts were disabled while i was participating in the RFL (my second SLRFL, at the first rfl i did 150 laps and got a SL pendent from LL, came last in this years RFL pagent for men and was currently on lap 50 (no aids, only secondlifes ctrl+r run))

This covers 3 accounts i have with linden labs (my own, a back upone (minimum resistance) used by my one brother, and a project av (sergeant detritus - a caracter in the discworld novels) as they were all on the same card), this account im on now was bought by my other bro on his own card (he is 22 and again, used his credit card to get this account during the 'ID needed' era, currently living with me after losing job n flat)

special thanks to my brother craig for letting me use his account just to write this, i will be inwolrd on a 'non ID needed' account vsoon but in so being have lost all my textures, objects, sl job etc - at least my sl money was not lost (its in ginko, where i have a internet setup to so i can transfer over if needbe)
