From: Devlin Gallant This excuse is more common than: 'My dog ate my homework.' If it really wasn't you I still hope you don't get your account back for being stupid enought to let anyone else use it. You would be suprised how fast younger siblings can cause problems. You get up to go to the bathroom, and they've elevated us to DEFCON 4.

Griefers cannot "win" in a traditional sense because the majority of them don't have a set goal to accomplish aside from annoying users -in which case it's the victims' choice whether or not the griefer is victorious.
If you think of the purported increase in griefing as an "ongoing battle," then the griefers would be "winning" if a majority of SL residents were either griefers themselves or annoyed.

If you slow down the sim enough it will start "culling" certain functions, one of which is unsit premission stops being checked...
Meaning, someone might have lag bombed the sim to use an unsit command which works if the server culls dependancy checks on unsit scripts.
At least that is how it was explained to me a long while back.

Once the harassment gets so severe that it is impossible to shop, socialize, build, or test and edit scripts, your emotions no longer matter. You can't play Second Life regardless. That's still "winning" in the griefers' eyes, and one of the things they try for. And unlike becoming upset, you cannot simply decide not to let it happen.

I actually had the exact same thing happened me not too long ago. In fact, what I did was used my custom stand animation (priority 4) as my Sit and Sitting on Ground animation. So basically when I sat on the ground it looked as if I was standing up so if anyone shot me it would make them go WTF. I thought it was pretty clever but unfortunately it doesn't work cause I did to thought sitting on the ground was a defense for them.
I preped my sitting on ground (saw the "Stand Up" button) and then asked someone to test their shotgun on me and I did in fact go flying up (Z axis) about 10,000 meters while still sitting cause the "Stand Up" button was still there 10,000 meters up. Once I stood up I began falling.

If a push comes in at the right time you can be pushed off the ground-sit.

If the latter then, sorry, thats another bannable offense - this is the adult grid.

Tough call really a dance pad or anything your sitting on shouldnt do that im not sure on ground never really tested collision on there. Recently i've tested collision on a non-phys prim and it cant event detect when hitting a person who had on a script to detect collisions with them. So If the object was non-phys this seems rather a phenomenon to me as i have just recently tested it (as of like 7:30 pm sl time last night) so im really not sure about this. I was saying because it said it allowed movement that one could "move around" while on it usually entailing that it is a phys object but who knows =/

If a push comes in at the right time you can be pushed off the ground-sit. Sitting on bare "Earth" in SL will not protect you, period. Whenever I'm in public and I see a griefer orbiting people, I will always seek out the nearest non-physical prim and sit. Getting caged is not really a problem either. It rarely happens to me, but when caged, I just teleport a few meters to one side. Problem solved. P2P teleporting can be your friend.

From: Selador Cellardoor You sound surprised! Certainly not surprised. Do note I ended the sentence with a period and not an exclamation mark. The "little brother" defence is one of the oldest in the book.

The "little brother" or "my friend" defense is also often historically false. *Not* saying that's the case here and I am writing generally, but such a line shouldn't be put forward, *especially* when we have the following policy to clarify things: From: Jill Linden Just a reminder that sharing Second Life accounts is against TOS From: someone 2.4 Passwords: At the time your Account is opened, you must select a password. *You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and are responsible for any harm resulting from your disclosure, or authorizing the disclosure of your password *or from use by any person of your password to gain access to your Account or Account ID. At no time should you respond to an online request for a password. Linden will never ask for your password offline or online, except that you will be required to enter your password as part of the log-on process. You are not allowed to ever disclose your password to another person. Your password and maintaining its confidentiality is the protection of your whole account; your in world content and all of the personal and billing information in the "Your account" section at the website. Use common sense when creating a password. Do not choose a password based on personal information that could easily be guessed by others and never save your password on a computer that is shared with others. If you wish to create or gift an account for a friend, please use our “Give the gift of a Premium Account” page. SOURCE: /16/9b/82322/1.html#post845107 Basically, don't let anyone else use your account. Then there's no way you take the fall for something wrong that someone else did.

You SAT there and did nothing while your "Little" brother screwed about with people, C'mon just admit it its obviously what was going on. you deserve the ban and hopefully will stay the hell away from Second life. Also if he was your Little brother, presumably younger then you, then why was he in adult SL and not teengrind ?

It's too late for you now but heres a idea for the future. If your using windows it has a ability to password protect (not sure about mac or linux) when you go into your screen saver. When you go AFK, turn your screen saver on and make sure you have it set to require a password when you come back. AND DON'T GIVE OUT THAT PASSWORD EITHER.

It is kinda your own fault. You should not share your account with other people. Accounts are free after all, each person in your household can easily obtain ther own. A friend of mine has already violated this rule and i've reported them. Friend or not...
Here is a solution you might wana take into consideration in the future.
I remember when i used windows 98 there was a ability to password protect using your screen savers. When you came back you would be forced to type in a password to resume your windows session. I noticed windows Xp doesnt have this... However Xp does have a way. It requires a few extra steps.
1.) Open your Control Panel and choose Display.
2.) Go to the Screen Saver Tab.
3.) Enable a screen Saver and choose the option 'On Resume, Display Welcome Screen'. (this was where the option to request your password used to be in 98...)
4.) In your control panel go to the User Accounts option.
5.) Click on your account, and select Change my password from the options list.
6.) When you wish to go AFK, open your Display Panel and Preview the screen saver. When your ready to come back, you will have to log back in as your account from the welcome screen. Your Second Life will probably still be running.
