Personally, I would be more bothered as to why the girls are doing this. (Given that it's not possible for anyone to be forcing them in SL!)

This thought further leads me to the suggestion that perhaps they aren't really underage at all but are just pretending to be in order to stir up trouble.

Years ago, the old Alphaville Herald (precursor to SL Herald) ran a feature story about a prostitute in TSO who claims she started cyber-prostituting at the age of 11. I read another similar story (in Wired I think) about a 15 year old girl who bragged to her friends that she was cybering 6 guys per night in TSO.

It happens. It might be deeper personal issues like parental neglect or it might be a way to boast to friends, but it happens.

From what experience I have, the chances of someone leaving SL is inversely proportionate to the amount of whining they do in the forums.

Honestly screenshots of what someone says doesnt mean jack. Yes it proves was said to you (which I dont need proof of your word.) but does it mean the statement was true? No offense but doesnt take much thinking to come up with why a person would claim to be a teenage female cybering for pay.

Does it mean shes really 14? Is it really a female at all? Im not being blind to fact it can and probably does happen.... but I also dont see such a claim as being reason to start running off and calling the FBI. Fact.... lets face it, lot people are going to try and use SL to make RL cash (specially after the type advertising being used to coax new players.. ie Business Week.) Fact.... sex sells in SL (and rest of web, and every other street corner.) Fact... some perverts get off on idea they cybering with a underage. Finale fact.... some enterprising people going use all the facts to thier advantage. I have a friend in college thats 24 y/o; she modeled for a "barely legal teens" site cause didnt want to work at McDs. Not much different.

This doesnt mean Im defending the noverification policy. Personally Im against it. Having to ban 20some accounts in one day shows there is issues with it

But still, no reason to make the situation into something its not.
