From: Csven Concord They don't? I've just been informed otherwise. Now this is interesting. Perhaps investigation is in order. No. But feel free to waste your timing looking. But out of charity, I'll tell you straight up I'm after bigger fish. No. But feel free to try to find anything. And ask allllll the questions you like. Since now it is quite obvious what you motives are I will close by repeating what Nyna said earlier..... http://breakingnews.iol.ie/entertai...682&p=y73886388Have a great day

Ah. Another forum-legal attack. Very classy. So, I assume you knew all along that there is a business behind this. Also a classy move. Not only that, but I'm standing at the SL business and, whaddaya know, there's plenty of tie-in to the event! There are images of the U2 avatars to greet us. And streaming images of the show. AND... I've just been greeted by one member and ejected from the land. How sweet.

Oh for crap sakes. The maker of the "U2 in SL" avatars has em on display at her shop. They aren't for sale. However, plenty of the rest of her avatars, which are for sale, are dripping with trademarks, and I kinda doubt Disney or Warner or anyone else approved em. There's no "oh gee, it's for a good cause and we aren't profiting" excuse there. So I don't think much of it applied here either, cause it's obvious just how much that person really cares about IP in the first place. Okay, I said it. There it is, out in the open. Go ahead and throw me on the pyre. Edit: Here, Csven, care for a marshmallow?

As I expect parts to arrive any minute and real life projects to once again seriously intrude, let me be blunt since my time will soon be spent elsewhere:
My concern here wasn't some SL group illegally appropriating some band's name, the names of its famous musician members, or its music or its reputation. It wasn't about using those to drive sales at their SL avatar business. As I've stated previously, I really don't care about that, which is why I didn't speak up last year.
My biggest concern is that these serious issues and the legitimate Causes that support them are not fodder for roleplay. This is not fantasy make-believe. And those who wish to associate themselves with these causes should ensure that they do not allow this to happen.
I'm not saying this has happened here. I am saying that all indications are from the responses I've received that this is happening. If not now, potentially at some point in the future. That can't be allowed to happen.
So keep your avatars and your music. Find ways to profit off of this. In relation to the big issue, I don't really care. But do not ever allow this to become only a vehicle for having a fun time. That would be the worst thing that could happen.
(Kim, I'd love one. Thank you.)

From: Rose Portocarrero ...I AGREE with Csven that he is raising a valid concern, but saddly, he has now tainted that concern under the umbrella of "I'm gonna get even with them."
Your admission now leaves in doubt your genuine motivation. The old, "treat me with respect or I'll drag you through the mud" concept is not something anyone would respond well too, and again, if you took the time to get to know this group, its not something that would phase any of them.
I have read enough of your posts to know that you do not just sit around and let things go unless, perhaps, you didn't feel you had enough of a case TO bring to the forums. The issue of the ripped off Nissans were a lot more clear cut and concise. This is not.
Rose just wanted to say how kind you have been...its clear you see this person as needing out reach and not the reason the thread starter claimed this was founded on. Feeling injuried and playing simpathy card is smoke screen. Is everyone feeling you so wrong....and you be oohhh so in the right. Seeing how the starter of the thread hung on every response and clearly likes to post...he has double the post that i have and i have been here two years longer than him. .. best giggle so far this week. Takes a big person to back down after the good fight given by Csven through out this thread....and as Rose indicated...any valid point is now muddled by the rest. Wise person once said....its best to say nothing and appear dumb...than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Hugs to you Csven...cuz Jojo thinks you need one. and...thanks for opportunity to be part of your drama...i come clean and admit...sometimes i use other peoples drama when their not looking...but i always put it back when im done.

Sometimes the best answers are those you find on your own because sometimes "out reach" is stuck in reverse

What would Bono say?? Who the frack cares?? why would i or any resonable adult give a rats rump what a marginally talented self serveing, drunk with a way over inflated ego says about ANYTHING other than what song he will warble out next? Great cause?? if it was so great he would NOT refuse to talk about what it does with the money..if he doesn't know that proves he really doesn't give a crap There are WAY to many "charities" out there that spend more mony putting on 3 hour concerts than they give to teh supossed receipiants! i personally think the questions are resonable and just..if you are gunna play the part you get to answer the questions...

I think it's pretty funny that folks who used registered marks like "U2" and "Jimi Hendrix" without permission (please correct me if I'm wrong!) put TWO copyright notices on their own Web site.

Something occurs to me. From: Csven Concord Perhaps investigation is in order. Time: 3:31PMFrom: Csven Concord AND... I've just been greeted by one member and ejected from the land. Time: 3:44PMFrom the above reaction time it appears that this forum thread was being closely monitored by at least one member of the group. Yet, while the group has gone out of its way to generate publicity for itself (even posting a topic prior to this announcing (!) the controversy - a fact missed by those attacking me, btw), they've been hesitant to actually explain themselves. Instead, they appear to prefer lurking and ejecting people from their store who only ask questions and verify claims. If their efforts are truly genuine, why are their actions indicative of people whose motives are less than honest? And if my concerns are valid, as stated by those defending this group, why is there no continued discussion here? Almost none of my questions have been answered. In truth, most have been redirected at me. "I could ask the same thing..." "Do you sell anything inworld?" "Do you in anyway use the association in groups your in to promote yourself in any way?" aso This has a very... Republican playbook quality to it. Instead of answering questions, redirect them, obfuscate the truth, play holier than thou. Are answers forthcoming, or should I take my questions elsewhere?

They have every right to eject people from their land they want. And your choice of words like "lurking" are painting some false mystery on all of this just to increase the 'drama factor'. Bottom line is you pissed them off, came on their land and they banned you. Nothing fancy there. From: someone This has a very... Republican playbook quality to it. Instead of answering questions, redirect them, obfuscate the truth, play holier than thou. Republican playbook? LOL! I mean after all, Democratic politicians are all direct with their answers and completely forthcoming. OMG they have a playbook! Conspiracy! Republicans! Evil! Run for the hills! Drama FTW! From: someone Are answers forthcoming, or should I take my questions elsewhere? Elsewhere would be nice.

LOL, I know Demi well enough to know if anyone suggested he was a Republican, he'd take an epileptic seizure. That statement was so off the target it wasnt even in the same galaxy.

I'm with you 100% on this Kim, and I'm suprised that LL have never actually brought her to book on it. If SL ever reaches "critical mass" there's going to be a heck of a lot of cease and desist orders suddenly raining down on the world. Should be fun to watch that fallout, at least. And as for U2 not actually giving permission - doesn't suprise me. Emails may have been sent, as has previously been stated I believe, but no response does not equate to giving permission. Incidentally, I wonder how they'd take to it themselves, I mean Bono went to court over a Stetson not so long ago as a point of principle: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4651387.stmI bet they never even saw the emails you sent.

Very specifically directed based on a now-confirmed hunch. From: Chris Wilde Elsewhere would be nice. Do you really believe my taking a possible ToS violation to LL "would be nice"? I'm only asking for transparency here. Is that so difficult? But perhaps you're right. This is getting nowhere and I no longer have time to bother with what appear to be scammers.

From: someone Do you really believe my taking a possible ToS violation to LL "would be nice"? Actually what you said was should i take my questions elsewhere. It did not specifically say anything about going to LL. Elsewhere could mean another forum, in world, etc.

lol *yawn*
for the love of god is this a soap opera ?
csven, from all angles it looks like you started the thread with intent to do no more than sarcastically and patronisingly attack and belittle an in-game event.
everyone else: stop feeding this person the attention he obviously so desperately craves, it was a great event and everyone there enjoyed it.
End of Story and hopefully End of Drama

You're certainly entitled to your opinion and can focus on my possible intentions in order to avoid the real issues all you want. The questions I'm asking aren't going away. In any event, per Chris's suggestion, I've taken them elsewhere. This thread is no longer of any use afaic.

I'm wondering, if attacking people and calling them scammers in a public forum is against the TOS.
Either the poster is a ------ or he needs to see a doctor real fast!
