They are changing the label on the Find button to say "Search" instead.
I have two things to say regarding this:
First a question: Why do people do this sort of thing? I am reminded of ants trying to move a piece of dirt; they sort of work together except they push in opposite directions almost as much as they push in unison.
Second: I think there needs to be a big heated debate about it.
Some of you should pick the "Forever Find" side and some should pick the "Search Rocks!" side and have at each other.
I will watch.

Find implies something is there and it will be found... search is more like... maybe i'll get lucky ;0

It's also a matter of common usage Find and Search are used in word processors and the like But on the web Search is the more used term (see forum tool bar et al).

I think the new search button rocks. I mean, with the find button, I never actually found what I was looking for half the time. But when I search, I always succeed it doing the act of searching. Works like a charm.

I think there should be both buttons: Search for when you want to search fror something nice or fun, and find if you realy need to find stuff...
usually, one fist searches and then finds. They're linked unseperably.
On the other hand... I know people who search and earch and search... tho never find *anything*

*IN my deep announcer voice* Its early in the fight but it looks like search has find on the ropes. search came out strong and seemed to dominate right form the get go. but its still early in the match and can still go either way.

This will be the end of SL as we know it. Mark my words, if LL makes this change SL will cease to exist in 3 months.

Both of these terms, find, and search, are indicative of the teki wiki FIC favoritism, spouted by the fascist bully boys at KremLinden Labs. All you hectoring forum bullies ..... Ahhh, I cant keep it up, LOL.

That is true, however, more exclamation marks and some uppercase letters would make your post not only much more effective but these stylisic variations actually make the words to which they are applied truer. THIS WILL BE THE END OF SL AS WE KNOW IT!!!! Mark my words, if LL makes this change SL WILL CEASE TO EXIST IN 3 MONTHS!!!!!!!!Hee hee, when I went to the preview and tried to do a find I couldn't find the button at first, even right after reading the preview notes.

So, will the shortcut be changed to CTRL+S instead of CTRL+F?
What about "Search & Find"? Or perhaps "Search & Maybe Find"? The title should preanticipate the result of the following search and indicate "Found" or "Nothing to be found" before submitting the search itself. Quantum computation for SL? In one metaverse, you find something, in another you don't.

This is totally not related to anything... You can change the button text in like 30 seconds ;0 all the text of menus are in xml files in your SL directory.

From: Baba Yamamoto This is totally not related to anything... You can change the button text in like 30 seconds ;0 all the text of menus are in xml files in your SL directory. This would be, in the standard windows SL install, in "C:\Program Files\SecondLife\app_settings\panel_toolbar.xml" which has a bunch of stuff like the stuff below : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="US-ASCII" standalone="yes"?> <panel name="panel_toolbar" can_resize="false" can_minimize="false" can_close="true" width="1024" height="26" > <button name="im_btn" label="IM" tooltip="Instant Message your friends." left="0" bottom="0" width="50" height="24" font="SansSerif" /> <button name="chat_btn" label="Chat" tooltip="Talk to people nearby.\nClick Chat then History to see what has been said." left="0" bottom="0" width="50" height="24" font="SansSerif" /> To change the text on the chat button, for example, you'd edit that file in a simple text editor, altering the line that says "label="Chat"" to say, for example "label="Barf"". Way to bring the pretend senseless forum battle party down Sue.

I want a nice shiny new Locate button... which would totally rock, so much more than your inferior Search and Find solutions.

Yes, since this should lead to accidentally bringing up the Search dialog when trying to take a snapshot, sure to bring great delight.
