Griefed By a Second Life Mentor

Good Morning:

In keeping with policy, I will not name names.

This morning my community was griefed by an individual with a SECOND LIFE MENTOR tag above his name. He came into my place and started orbitting people, about 6-7 people that I received complaints from. He tried to hide this by using channel /3 to dohis dirty work, but fortunately I and another in the club had a collision detector and we quickly determined who was behind thie griefing attack. When confronted, he quickly dropped his mentor tag--a little late-- and teleported away. I ARd him, of course.

I sincerely hope this person has his volunteer privalages revokes, as his behavior was uncalled for and very unproffesional. Certainly not what I would expect from someone LL has given volunteer status to.

Maybe LL needs too add or improve its screening process when deciding on its volunteers.

Regards

Milosz

Maybe it's time for a Linden review of the mentor program. This isn't the first report of a mentor engaging in abusive behavior:

I wonder how they expect residents to have faith in their judgment when their hand-picked representatives do this kind of stuff?

Merely speculation, but it just occured to me that he may have been wearing his mentor tag to appear "above suspicion"

I would follow this up with more than ARs. I think you should email the appropriate Linden (is it Jeska?). Put simply, that is just crap.

I suspect you've nailed it there.

Another speculation. The griefer might have created a group of his own, with a 'fake' group title of "Second Life Mentor", or maybe "SEC0ND LIFE MENT0R". Note that the latter of those looks, at a glance, like a legit title, but the O's are actually zeros.

I would imagine that your AR on that griefer is one which LL will try to follow up on promptly, weather it turns out to be a legitimate mentor misbehaving, or a griefer posing as a mentor to cause further grief.

Then they should lose their status and be perma-baned from SL, in my opinion.

Names can be named over at SLUniverse, by the way. This individual has damaged a lot more than a few people's enjoyment.

Turn your PM's on or message me in world, I'd like the full name. I just talked to a certain club manager/friend of mine who has said he's been a PITA lately there too.

yep thanks, just checked my e-mail account, and yep thats exactly who I thought it was ; )

Thanks!

And for further clarification: He did not do this to appear above suspicion, he never takes the tag off, he feels it conveys upon him some mastabatory special status other than just "Newbie Helper"

About the guy himself, he's rather young, impressionable, and reactionary, odds are he was "Retaliating" to some perceived insult (stupid I know) in the only way he is capable of as his ability to debate subjects begins and ends at the 7th grade level. Add that to the fact that a few (not all) of his friends are parasitic leaches on societies ass and you have a potential for grief that is unbound by normal conventions.

I was one of his friends for a while, and for a while he learned how to behave like an adult. Not so much anymore from what I've heard. C'iest la vie, one more person to be pruned from a bloated friends list.

For those who like to hear names, head over to sluniverse.

This was the first time I had ever seen him at my establishment, so have no idea what he may or may not have been retaliating against, but nothing, including the fact that he may be young, excuses his behavior.

Just as a clarification, this is *not* the same person that I was talking about in my mentor abuse thread.

Unfortunately, Instances of this kind seem to be On the Rise. I Find it Utterly reprehensable.
This person should be perma Banned from SL, Not just for griefing, but for griefing from a position of perceived trust and Official sanction.

Angel.

Has any witness or victim contacted Jeska about it?
