And you won't read a sadder document. The boss of a multi-million dollar company remembering how, three years ago you could have a 512m draw distance, giant objects could throw shadows across sims...
Really sad. It didn't even seem to occur to him that things really have gone downhill over time, and all he was doing was emphasising the point.

Jesus! What a screw up... :-(

For those who can't log on, I can report on the current meeting with Philip:

Denial.
Empty promises.
More denial.
Toss out some meaningless figures.
Change the subject.
Numerous crashes from a ridiculous rotating bench build.
Lots of angry comments from residents.
More empty promises.
Talking about unrelated issues.
Even more denial.
Condesending talk from LL staff.

All in all, a real clusterfuck.

My goodness... I finally got back in... and it was utter tripe.

The above was spot-on.

Had to leave... just couldn't handle it any longer.

Color me cynical, I suppose. *sighs*

I managed to ask him why they removed the verification without the tools being in place.. and the answer? Because they didn't know what they'd need.

*sigh* I know I've been asking for better privacy controls for a while now, which would help with the griefing. Soooo?

Well, now they've gotten their feedback. Does this mean that they'll put the plug back in until they have the tools to deal? I'm not going to hold my breath.

that's twice i've crashed while listening to Phil reminisce about the good old days. He's ducking every serious question so far.

Don't worry even Philip is missing his own meeting... xD

He keeps crashing, being griefed by people landing and wearing large objects etc...

I managed to stay for about 30 minutes. Durting that time, the average fps was about 0.7, with a peak at 2.2 fps. Before I entered, I had every graphics option disabled and all sliders set to minimum graphics resolution. I'm not going to try to get back in.

The build was stupid, and played up to the worst ways of generating lag, and didn't take any advantage of the much vaunted occlusion culling that just got launched.

I did manage to ask a question, namely, what is LL going to do to protect themselves from an underage sex based lawsuit now there is no meaningful age check. This question was utterly ignored by the lindens, despite a couple of people chiming in that they would like it answered too. Other questions by other people were also not answered.

Philip's reminiscing, while interesting, only served to highlight that SL had major performance issues now.

There was no noticeable attempt to forewarn people to remove lag-causing atachments or scripted items, which should be routine when you expect a huge crowd.

Two friends I was listening to in skype after I crashed out told me that someone (wont give the name here, might be an error) dropped some prims on Phillip while he was speaking and they (everyone?) crashed instantly. They managed to get back eventually.

Yes I usually hate to criticize what others build but this was a very bad idea... rotating constantly AND doing it over four sim corners.
