What a bad idea. What makes freebie accounts good testers of SL? And then add the availability limitations of the preview grid, the instability, the unability to scale, ...

I love the concept, but I have to agree that the segregation is not a good idea. Lots of "Unverifieds" are good people and some have been in SL for years. They just have no need, nor incentive, to give SL any payment information.
The payment information system is one of the dumbest things LL has come up with. It offers absolutely nothing except illogical segregation. It does not keep out griefers. It does not keep out underageers. It does not allow us to differenciate between the two. It is, in fact, a totaly worthless feature. Something LL is adding more and more of these days.
As for the Prieview Grid; LL needs to make some incentive for us, thier paying customers, to do thier jobs for them. Quite frankly, the fact that LL can not do thier own jobs is not enough of an incentive for me to do it for them. I pay LL for land and my account. So do many, many residents. We are thier customers and every Bug Report and Abuse Report is a "Customer Complaint". LL needs to begin treating them as such or they are going to lose a lot of buisness over piss-poor customer relations.
LL wants us to bug-hunt and test on the Preview Grid? Then offer us something to do it. As it stands it is work for nothing. (And don't hand me the "You make it better if you test it, so don't complain if there are bugs if you didn't test." crap. That's what I pay my tier for. Taxes to the running government so they can do thier own jobs. They want me to do thier jobs? Give me my tier back.

From: Psyke Phaeton No one is discriminated against.. become authenticated and you are in. Use paypal, mobile numer or CC just like before. Should we allow people access to ATMs when they can't verify themselves? No? Discriminate: To make distinctions on the basis of class or category without regard to individual merit; show preference or prejudice That is EXACTLY what you are doing... Oh, and your analogy of the ATMs? Doesn't quite work... You need an account to access them, and you can have that account even if you have no payment method on file. You need an account to access SL, and you can have that account even if you have no payment method on file. For ATMs, the account IS the verification...

From: Aodhan McDunnough Nice suggestion, many of the people you suggest putting on the preview grid are those who don't know what to look for. QFT. Honestly, if we think the buggy releases are bad NOW...

I hate to say this, but some of you honestly deserve to be griefed, your self important crap that spews from your mouth is nothing but an attempt to make yourselves feel important but does nothing but paint a bulls eye on your back. Seriously, you guys make me twitch and I am the one that is against griefing. There is something seriously wrong with the fact that you have decided you are above anyone wether they be someone new or someone unverified. Where does this frigging mentality come from? You are the poster children for what is wrong with the world today...

From: Ghoti Nyak Maybe instead... get caught griefing, etc, you get sent to the Preview Grid where you must do hard labor finding and reporting bugs to earn your redemption.
-Ghoti Now this sounds like a awesome Idea!

I like Ghoti's idea. But an idea I like even more would be to stop the open registration until we have the necessary tools to really control our SL experience: launch the better group controls, do better privacy controls (so I can have my secret meetings Prok is so concerned about, <grin> , and better land access tools (shared banned lists, for example)... THEN open the floodgates. This whole thing has been implemented bass ackwards. It's like trying to bail out the Titanic with a thimble. Regards, -Flip

From: windozer Vargas The flood is already in,its too LATE to close the gates. Not so. It would prevent those /b/ tards from getting back in ad infinitum, for instance.

From: Psyke Phaeton We have 2 big problems in SL
1) Free accounts people on the main grid causing grief 2) The Preview grid not having enuf testers
Lets stick the Free UNAUTHENTICATED accounts on the Preview grid?? Authenticated accts can go to Main grid Leaving aside questionable correlation of free accounts and griefing, how's putting supposed griefers on preview grid expected to address lack of testers? They aren't going to be interested in testing things and filling bug reports, even if they actually knew in the first place how to spot a bug. If anything, you'd make the preview grid even more of hell for real testers than it already is and scare them even more away from it.
