there was asset server troubles before the shut down. seems to be happening all to often lately

Ok Ok It was me. I did it There was a blackout and I was out of coffee

so I unplugged the servers from the backup UPS and plugged my coffee pot in!! Sorry hehe!!

yeah, this sounds like the last one. Long period of weirdness made me eventually log off then couldn't get back on except for that funny pile-up, before they shut us out again. Database problems.

I've been on and off testing something and missed it, this time.

Did any of you see any system behavior that might resemble a grid attack?

Not really. A really bizarre lag situation was underway at Waterhead a couple of hours ago...but a Linden came along, blamed the image queue, and rebooted the sim, so I'm not sure if the symptoms were evident in other sims. (Everything would freeze for a minute...the chat text would then fly up the screen...and it was like wading through treacle in size twelve flippers for the next two minutes...before it looped back to frozen again.)

Was in a clothes store...buying....buying...buying...and trying....shortly before the admin logout message. Only thing I noticed there (a private sim) was that it was taking forever for clothing textures to rez. Moving about, chat, etc. was all fine. I do hope the database problem hasn't messed up any of my transactions.

It was me, I did it, I logged in for the first time in 3 weeks because I didn't have DSL for that long, and went to Nakama and animed myself out and the grid exploded from the cuteness.
