Seriously though, if you condemn SL for allowing sexual content, you might as well condemn the whole of the net. Even early MUCKs and IRC servers catered to couples (and by couples, I of course mean two fat computer geeks in different campuses in the Western US) getting off on dirty conversations. Hell, you can't even look for an innocent little ROM for your favourite, now out of production system without coming across thirty some-odd porn sites. o.O; |

Back to the OP.. what is to be done about this rampant sex thingy.. how do we fix it? Hmmm... well I'm sure RL pics would stop a lot of it. After nearly 3 years theres still nothing funnier than hearing about 2 SL ladies that hook up for the hawt night of passion to find out later they're both guys

However, I can't help but think about all the RL relationships that may suffer from using these women in the name of promotion (not that LL really cares). There are better ways. I know people are going to say that if a relationship suffers due to the influx of the SG then those relationships were weak to begin with. The only problem with that sentiment is I have seen many very, very strong relationships totally destroyed by things that happen online. So the strength of a relationship is a rather moot point. My point is I don't think LL has considered all the possible repercussions of this move on their part. I have the feeling that it is going to hurt SL more in the long run than help it. I've seen it happen more than once. Yes, sex sells, but the results are short term most of the time. Most of the people who will register for SL will only get a free account. There will be very few who will actually buy a premium account. Why pay for something when you can get virtually the same thing for nothing? There will be more problems in world as well from people who are going to come just to cause trouble because they will think that since LL is using this kind of promotional method it gives them a free ticket to do whatever they wish no matter who it hurts. I honestly don't believe that when all is said and done LL or SL will be any better off using this promotional gimmick to sell SL to the public. I believe it will have the opposite effect. And that, to me, is a sad thing. But, that is just my opinion. There will be those who agree and those who will disagree. For those that disagree and think that flaming me is going to make any difference, sorry, but I don't argue with people on forums. I've been on many forums for many years and have learned that arguing or fighting with someone is a no win situation. No one wins and everyone loses. That's my 2 cents.  Oh and if I have totally misunderstood what the SG promotional is all about then I apologize for making a mistake in posting this. I'm just concerned about the end results. |

Interestingly, the group they had - founded by Wilder, who donated some 2 or 4k land tier to the group (I forget exactly) has now disappeared - either disbanded, or hidden on the list. Unless my Find isn't working right.

If they are just here to explore and enjoy SL as the rest of us do then there is no problem. I did take a peek at thier site and although I didn't get very far into it (nekkid women just isn't my thing. lol) I don't have a problem with their tatts or piercings. I have a few tatts myself as you'll find most umm.. real... bikers and thier women do. As I said in my post if I have misunderstood what the deal is then my post is a moot point itself and can be disregarded. lol |
