As I posted in Second Life Answers, I am carrying a cash balance and wish to subscribe with it, but I can't without providing billing information. Do you think this is fair?

How do you prove that you are not a freaking kid? Your story, sad to say, sounds very disney.

Sound Similar: you vs troll.

At what point did you loose all ability to reason logic?

On and BTW your post on answers:

Hello,

I am attempting to upgrade my membership to Premium. I currently have a cash balance sufficient to pay for one month of membership that I cashed out through Lindex, from sales of Lindens I obtained through a lot of time and effort in world. I had hoped to obtain some land with my premium tier to build my own shop and sell a product I've been developing.

However, it is telling me I have not provided credit card information. Why should I need to provide billing information to use my cash balance?

Very confused,

OK !

Let me get this right, you joined the same month I joined yet you are able to make enough cash through sales! Doh, I must be doing something wrong.

And then you want to obtain land too?

Ok your whole point was "LOOK HERE LL, I GOT L$, I want to conver to USD"... and Cash out. But please LL, I don't want to give you guys my billing (Address) info or CC info.

OK Dude.. you want to cash out, but you don't even want to give them a magical address to you so they can send their $2.00 check.

COME ON FREAKING LOGIC ?!

Furthermore, may I know what exactly you sold to make this kind of magical $L? I for one am curious at your uberness. show me your product! i will personally provide CC info to LL to buy your freaking product if your claim is valid.

I have a positive cash balance with LL. Do you give your credit card information to someone who owes you money? Do you hand over the VISA when you're using a gift certificate at FYE?

Maybe. Or we provide them with picture ID, or a Social Secuirty Number, or other legal means of "possitive identification". LL chose credit cards and PayPal so they can pay your account when you cash out. How, exactly, did you think they were going to get that money to you?

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

The point is LL wants to ensure that you can pay your bills on payday. Just because you have enough money right now doesn't mean that you have enough next month. In that case, LL would take the cash from your credit card. If you don't provide them your card, LL won't have any means to get the money from you.

Imagine you can own land without having to pay for it, because LL can't track you down.

I've listed a limit buy order on lindex to try to get my lindens back (and a few more, if there's a seller desperate enough!) and will be continuing renting.

Thank you all for your though provoking discussion and feedback!
