So my first post back has gotten nuked? I'm so proud...and yet so ashamed of what this place has become.... the post was on topic and was asking questions about this forum and the new resmod thing...

I always thought by 2099 stormtroopers would have wearable implantable computers, with heads up displays in thier eyes, inpenatrable armor and would all be cloned... now that's the stormtrooper of the 21st century.

I just don't understand why the thread got nuked....nothing outragous was done or said....are we not allowed to talk about htis forum or the resmod thing? I really dont get it...someone please clue me in.

The thread in question was moved into the Linden Topic Review forum, and while I cant see anything too outrageous in the topic concerned, chances are it will be moved to the 'off-topic', or 'notices and well wishes' forums.

I read that thread as well and didn't see anything wrong with it.

My understanding is that the resmods cannot nuke a thread. Was Jeska working at this time of night? That was bizarre enough where I wouldn't rule out a forum bug causing the deletion.

Yes, I haven't said it yet - but I am against starting to lean against this resmod idea. I wasn't out of the gate, I was more or less watching - I do want to see how things shake out - but if the manner in which thread sequestering and/or moving has been taking place in the past couple of days is to continue, we're in for some stormy weather.

Why exactly was it moved? Can we not talk about resmods? or can we not question things?

I am hoping that we are just seeing a "flexing" period in the resmods. They need a brief period to convince themselves that YES...they do INDEED have the power. Then they will relax a bit and settle into the job. I say give it time.

And I say people who are supposed to be of the character standing required to be a resmod shouldn't have "flexing" their muscles amongst their repetoire of character traits. Just sayin'.

I personally just think people are in a short learning phase of what is and is not appropriate for the forums.

You'd be suprised at what offends people. Not one thread has been put under review today that didn't get abuse reported.

My personal philosophy is hands off all threads until I figure that out.

so abuse reports can get a thread sent to review? If thats the case then what idgit made this up.....I cant see any people abusing the abuse button on people they dont like

pretty sad....Sl used to be a place of expression and the forums were more fun than in world....Looks like good ol king Phillip forgot about his people and what the goal was.....all about money and political correctness now I guess....

That would be a sad comment on the SL community if an abuse report on a thread got it nuked...especially when the thread in question wasnt an attack on anyone and it was on topic.


Hell if thats the case whats stopping me from repeatedly abuse reporting a thread till its nuked? ....or anyone else for that matter? Does it take one abuse report? 3 abuse reports by seperate individuals? whats the criteria?

Yeah - I was mid-reading the other thread, went to click on page two, and got the "You Don't Have Access" message.

Because ResMods don't have the ability to delete threads (only Move or Rate), and I don't think Jeska's active atm.... I think Coco's theory is probably the closest.

I dont think it was nuked or flagged for AR review - it just got sent to Limbo before getting moved to a "more relevent" forum category.

But frankly, I think that your post actually belongs in General, because it IS SL relevant, and the topic in question was about the current state of the forums.

Agreed. Lately I am finding that the term "off topic" is being confused with "may cause drama." My understanding is, "off topic" is for posts that have nothing to do with Second Life.

Well, they don't exactly "nuke" the threads as much as sequester them. Remove them to a place where they can be reviewed later.

The thing is, though, both threads that I have seen disappear tonight - had nothing wrong with them! Unless some ungodly post got thrown in there at the end that I never saw.

Okay, to try to keep this from spiraling out of control, the Resmods have only one so-called "power", I call it a privilege. That is the ability to move a thread. Yep thats it. That's all we can do. We can't edit/lock/close a thread or post. Our other tasks are to try and point out when a post may be heading off-topic and/or change it into a more positive direction. Another task is to encourage positive post and to attract more involvement within the forums. That's it.

Today there were two threads sent to the Linden Forum for review. In both cases, the Resmod found it questionable as to where it belongs. We are still learning and hope to be further advised by Jeska in the morning.

Right. What I am saying is, If I AR every thread under 24 hours old, and sit here ARing every new one that comes up, then the resmods will either have to use their judgement and ignore me, or I have effectively shut down the forums until Jeska arrives on the scene. I hope it's the former.

Yes MJ, and that is what is in dispute here.

Also, I agree about labeling it as a "privilege" - which is why I am having trouble digesting it.
