You know what? You can't do fades or cuts in SL either.

Anyone who knows video production should really be able to see the lipsynching's been overlayed afterwards. I don't see anything wrong with using it to promote SL.

Maybe you should read the "Making Of" page before you comment:

Mouthing Off
Probably the most unique aspect of this production is its emulation of speech. Linden Lab developers created a beta version of Second Life that enabled me to map Quick Time movies onto avatar face meshes. This was done to examine the validity and potential of visemes (facial positions that articulate certain sounds in speech). I used AfterEffects to composite DV footage of moving mouths onto character face maps, and rendered them as Quick Time movies. Using the beta tool set, I was able to cleanly map the movies onto the avatars.

Nope, done in Second Life, but in a special "beta" version, so it's not available in the standard client. If the lip-syncing was done outside, then I wouldn't have commented as I have. But it wasn't, it was done in-world with a tool we don't have. That's what I was talking about.

Oh, okay. I'm kinda surprised that just using a prim or two over the avatar's mouth wasn't good enough.

I'd love to see that done and it look like the same quality as the lip-syncing in the video.

It'd be interesting to know if it was done the way it was because LL wanted to test it out or because it was actually too hard to do with prims.

The edit was because I barely skimmed what you'd quoted from me and thought it was another bit you'd quoted. What I wrote before didn't actually make sense when I realised what had actually been quoted. :)

And AJ said, Let there be link: and there was link.
And AJ saw the link, that it was to a report on a talk by LL about the machinema.
