Was terribly tempted to post the same thing last night.

She's probably got an orbiter built into her guitar.

I dunno, after having "No Cheap Thrill" stuck in my head for the past four days straight, I think I might ban her specifically.

I'm sure she does, she never fails to blow you away ... what a griefer ... more more more!!!

I had the same thought. Then I remembered I could look it up using Google.

The well known, often made point that there are some good people who remain unverified is taken.
The less well known, yet also obvious counterpoint, that the vast majority of such people could easily become verified, also still stands.

Actually I do. For every 80s singer I ban, I also get hundreds of underage children.

I somehow suspect these people won't be knocking down the door trying to visit the portions of my property marked "payment info on file". I also suspect that if they want to participate in SL in a normal manner (undisturbed), they might be doing it with accounts not containing their actual names.

The ones that do get kept out of my areas, are in vast majority the ones I want to keep out, so no worries. I had a flood of idiots annoying our sim after months of relative quiet, and it all happened after 6/6/6. All of the idiots doing the griefing, save a very few, were unverifieds. Nearly all people residing on my banned list save one is unverified and all have griefed a member of my group or neighbor in my sim.

Of all places:

There are plots on Caledon that ban not just non-verified but people with payment on file. ie. type 1.

My friend was going to move there cause a friend of hers lives there, but when she saw how some of the ban lines were set (specially ban on payment on file) she decided to change her mind.

Next,

Today I went to a store where the manager was being overly rude, even to the point of harassing to a newbie who was shopping there. This person even had "Payment Used", but was born this month and had a newbie av. The manager was asking all sorts of questions, threatening the newbie etc etc. I asked the newbie in IM what was going on, he was new enough to reply in general.

Later I found out that the manager thought this newbie was someone who came to blow up the store, just cause he looked new and had a account less than a week old. Sadly, the newbie was just trying to fix his av and get better outfit/skin/shape, hooked him up with some LM's and he was happy.

Nope. Went to that link, recognized one song (Luka). So thanks! At least I have some idea what she has done now.

Never been a 'fan' of groups or singers, I don't follow groups or artists....I have lots of songs, including favorites I can tell you the title to and lyrics, but don't have a clue who wrote and performed. And in SL, I NEVER have the stream on *shiver*.

Not my property there. In fact thats an area where I don't have payment info checked, I let anyone in there. Caledon can ban griefers from the level of the estate managers, so I don't see the point.

The songs she's best known for are Luka (because of content) and Tom's Diner (many times re-recorded and remixed by others).

I'm not a fan of hers but her songs definitely have impact. Having listened to the infinitemind interview that took place in SL, she's become an immensely more interesting personality to me.

I don't have the stream on myself, but it should be a good way to get the upcoming Duran Duran show to the residents without cauing horrendous lag.

This is the funny thing.

I didn't expect Caldeon of all places to have such restrictions, the other day I was on my alt and ran into a type 0 account ban, (Caldeon highlands -- i think). I was amused and rather taken back to be smacked against those lines.

Then today, my friend tells me of the type 1 ban and sure enough it's there (Caledon II -- if I'm not mistaken).

So I don't see the point of making all these red lines, people who visit Caldeon are usually not there to grief.

Is there a policy on ban lines at Caledon? I believe the Desmond Shang is still out of the country right?

I bet Duran Duran, and Kurt Vonnegut will be unverified too.

Mine either. I DO disable push, and I have banned a few individuals from my property for cause, but I do not currently ban on account type. I would like to know who is banning the onfile, unused (type 1's), since I just did a run-through shopping over the weekend with an alt of that status and didn't run into bans?

However, I do think the poster's friend is being a bit confrontational...he/she is going to have a hard time finding a place that doesn't have potential neighbors banning on it, or if he/she does find a place, there is no guarantee someone won't turn it on after he/she moves into the area.

It is their property, their rights, I am afraid. Personally I think LL messed up allowing the freebie newb accounts at all.

He is. Generally there is a "no whitelist ban lines unless absolutely necessary" policy but that was put into place before the payment bans became possible - I don't know whether that issue has been considered. I'll ask him when he gets back, certainly, it's something that should be made clear.
