My Island will remain 100% open. The only people I ban are those that DO something first.

No change yet, until we're convinced of the immediate need. I like having the option to shut the doors though.

More pressing, IMO, and especially for bigger clubs would be an increase in the ban list length. But I don't even see it on LL's to-do list.

i'm really worried about this stuff... i don't have the ability to have payment info on this site (no credit card, no bank account... i'm in the process of looking for a job so i have no way to do it.) and i really hate that i'm not going to be able to enter alot of places now :(

By the way, the Poll listing is incorrect. Those who used a Cell phone to register under the pre-6-6-06 system are listed as No Payment Info on File.

I said open to everyone... but I need a way to ban anyone who bans people based on status, or who uses any kind of security device...

I was thinking about banning people who own private sims too, but they don't affect me so I won't

Well, you are in a minority. No debit card? Credit card? Paypal info? Unusual but things do happen. While I do feel it is a land owners right to restrict access as he deems necessary, I don't think you are going to find yourself "shut out" from the world. No one is screaming "The Sky is falling" yet.

For now I'll set it to open w/ autoreturn. Seeing how it's a store. For events I may be tempted to enable if for On File.

i know i'm just worried about it. i was so glad when they made it open for everyone to join and now i'm afraid i'll be stuck without being able to go to the places i enjoy.

My club won't be changed and neither will my island. Somebody has to act up before they get on the ban list.

Only exception I'll make for that if somebody shows me a group that is known to repeatedly grief as a general rule and even then I've gotta have some good evidence besides "these people all suck". If 2 out of the 100 act up I'm not banning the other 98. Same thing goes for the new account people, lots of these people are just checking out SL for the first time and it behoves us all to treat them nice, welcome them, and treat them like anybody else-UNTIL they demonstrate their joker status, in which case a trip home and ban will be done, the same as anybody else.

FYI, people who verified with cell show up as 'no payment information on file'.

I dont get it. Why this new system ?
Why would you want to disallow someone just because they haven't given their credit card (or similar) info ?
I have lots of friends in SL that are marked "No payment info on file" (or whatever it is).

Should I tell them now they're second class citizens and I cannot fraternize with them
anymore ?

I can't see the point of this at all. Would be nice if someone could enlighten me.

People seem to be slow at using new features so I'm not expected much from this. Most people haven't even taken advantage of the new light effects on their land and thats been here a while now.

Why would I want to ban people I don't know and who've never done anything to me from my land?

A lot of people made accounts just to be griefers long before 6-6-06 too.

The fact is Rapheal, this new system is just a bunch of false security and smoke and mirrors to make many people who screamed the sky was falling after 6-6-06 stop screaming. As one person said, its hitting a fly with a sledge hammer because they are too lazy to go buy a fly swatter. No matter what people want to say, there was never any means for LL or content creators to verify someone's age in SL. No more so than now. CC info is a joke and yet another bit of false security considering every 12 year old in WoW used a CC. But to some people this sort of over-reaction is their bread and butter.

The only reason I might do this is if I had an "adults only" establishment. Which I don't. Although I have frequented a few. :)

you don't need CC info for wow. you can buy game time cards at walmart ;) but i do agree it's a bit of a joke. they could just ask a friend for a card, or use their mom's cellphone or something like that. they only way to verify a person is with their social security number right? (might be wrong about that...)

griefer accounts were probably made before they opened the doors to everyone yeah but i'm sure this caused a huge increase since now they don't have to worry about verifying themselves every time they make one. :/

Yes, Game cards are available. I used em to play on the Euro servers with my friends when I played WoW as they wouldn't take my US CC. But the vast majority of underage players in every game out there use CC to play. If it's that easy for a kid to get into any other CC verified game out there, why would SL have somehow been different? Well, it wasn't, as any one who has been around here a while knows. We have always had teens on the main grid and had to watch for and out them so they were removed to the teen grid.

We have always had griefers. I am sure we have far more now that before 6-6-06. On that most all of us agree. Many of us simply disagree that blanket bans of arbitray groups of people are the way to handle those issues.

I will be keeping my shops open to everyone, although one of them sells BDSM-related items, there's nothing which can be considered above a PG rating in them (except for occasionally underdressed customers), but I can't really use that as an excuse to place a wide-area ban on No Payment People.

I do, however, support the ability for mature shop owners to do so. For the lack of any verification at all, something is needed.

Welcome to the forums :) It's been a hot topic of discussion here for over a month now but maybe you missed it.

It has nothing to do with griefers, really. It's because there is no other way available at this time to show due diligence at keeping underage kids from accessing adult content. No, it won't stop them if they're determined to steal Mom's credit card. But it will stop enough of them that it's better than not even trying.

For 99% of SL residents, nothing is going to change. I only know of a couple of adult providers who are planning to use it. Generic store owners who ban with it are only hurting themselves. The rest of us are biding our time to see whether it's needed.
