The rules in SL have never been strictly defined. More so they have always been open to interpretation by individual Lindens. This has been a long term problem that doesn't seem to be on the road to resolution as yet. I find it very uncomfortable when I read that the Linden right hand doesn't a)know, b)care, c)does the opposite of what the Linden left hand is doing.

Yes we do need consistency. However that is a hard thing to ask when LL has traditionally been an untraditional company. LL policy is kind of like Russian Roulette.

Hence me sticking a mop handle in the Linden cage and poking to see what sounds it makes. I already got a squeak that tells me that had I allowed an artwork vendor with mature content that could be openly visible from a pg sim would have resulted in an abuse report and being made to take it down. I have a quote from a Linden that is in public record stating you can't display it. That is better than what I had, which was nothing in official rules.

Well, no offense, but isn't this just common sense?

Common sense generally isn't (common, that is).

The trouble with your arguement, Kath, is 6.1.

From: The Terms of Service

6.1 Content. You acknowledge that: (i) by using the Service you may have access to graphics, sound effects, music, video, audio, animation, text and other creative output (collectively, "Content";), and (ii) Content may be provided under license by independent content providers, including contributions from other Participants (all such independent content providers, "Content Providers";). Linden does not pre-screen Content. YOU UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT LINDEN HAS THE RIGHT, BUT NOT THE OBLIGATION, TO REMOVE ANY CONTENT (INCLUDING YOURS) IN WHOLE OR IN PART AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON OR NO REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE AND WITH NO LIABILITY OF ANY KIND.

While I agree it's annoying, it's not 'wrong' in the sense of they are acting against the ToS. That's exactly why 6.1 exists - The Lindens can do no wrong, legally, for the most part.

Further, in 7.1...

From: The Terms of Service
7.1 Termination. Linden has the right at any time for any reason or no reason to suspend or terminate your Account, terminate this Agreement, and/or refuse any and all current or future use of the Service without notice or liability to you. ...

So, basicly, an abuse report that the Lindens decide to act on is valid, regardless of if there is a specific rule against it.

These clauses exist basicly for exactly this reason: To cover things that should be in the ToS, but either by act of negligence or simple oversight, are not.

What should such fellows as I do crawling between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves, all; believe none of us.

That simply gives them the right to do what they will. I do not disagree with their right to do so only that to provide a consistant experience they need to set a policy or run the risk (as they do now) of looking like they are off their medication.
