if you go to your UserCP, and then go the Edit Options, way down at the very bottom there should be an option to let you use a full WYSIWYG What You See Is What You Get editor.

Help! I have Guidelines permanently projected on my retina. I can't look at the tv without seeing Guidelines hovering just over the top of it. I can't drive without scaring myself, thinking something red and called Guidelines is about to hit me!

How to open stuff in boxes

After right-clicking on the object and detaching it from your head...

Lots of people might really like this. Sadly it doesn't work on the Opera browser and LL doesn't care.
LL did not write vBulletin.

Someday I will understand the constant pessimism here.

LL did not write vBulletin.
But they do choose to use it, and an outdated version of it at that.

I have mentioned problems with the website not working properly with Opera and been told by LL employees they support Internet Explorer and Firefox and don't support Opera.

That is a decision they made, not a reflection of my attitude. Opera is kind of funky about some things; it took Google the longest time to get Gmail to sort of work properly with Opera. Opera is used by a small percentage of browsers, not enough to make it worth the company's while to support.

I didn't say they ought to care.

The vBullletin WYSIWYG editor works fine in Opera with the current version of vBulletin.

By the way, LL didn't have the WYSIWIG option made available until a user told them they ought to. Gee, I wonder what user it was that did that?

You read my suggestion to people that there is a WYSIWYG editor they could use here and didn't comment on the suggestion at all; instead you chose to point out an alleged flaw in my outlook on things.

Perhaps you make your judgements about other's attitude based on introspection.

There is an undo function for building.

To make it work, you have to have the chat bar closed.

Then you can undo something like a move or a size change with control Z, and redo it with control Y.

Thank you!!!

Your welcome.

It is a sad comment on the documentation or the interface design or people's willingness to read the instructions or something when that is not known by so many people. I haven't read the current documention in F1 yet to see how much detail it goes into.

If I understand correcty there is an undo buffer stored separately for each object, and the undo works on the object selected. It's not quite the same as an undo for a text editor; it might be less straighforward in use but more powerful.

---------------------------------------

Remember - there are two preview grids, one with interface changes and one with the group tool overhaul. The have been mostly empty during the many hours I have spent there. People really ought to try them out!

The group one should be interesting: get a group of friends, pick out something you want to pretend to start, like a club or an hotel, and make up roles and duties. Buy some of the land the've made for sale, pop up a quick and dirty hotel or club. I recommend finding the group of friends before you get there ready to try it out. Probably best if someone in the group has done things like run a business with workers or such in SL before.

So - this is a way to do something in Second Life - what yoo're doing is helping to make the program work better, and the how to do it part is going to the preview grids and looking for bugs to file bug reports about and post in the preview forums about both bugs and ideas for improvements.

I've found the documentation somewhat lacking - primarily in the more advanced areas of the game - which I'm starting to experience now as it relates to building.

I'm figuring it out rapidly - mainly through trial and error.

The reason I was so pleased with the CTRL Z and CTRL Y information is that I tried to change the texture in a framed picture in my new house last night and ended up covering every textured surface in the entire structure with the same texture (wasn't pretty) - I was forced to derez the entire structure.

There's actually a lot of information available - finding it and digesting it is the difficult part.

Thank you again for the tip.

SuezanneC: Sorry for that - I didn't intend to single you out. I am just surprised and extremely disenchanted by the pessimistic anti-LL attitude of what seems like the general public here on the forums (could be just a few screamers). The forums are not a friendly place for me at all. I see moaning all day. I see depressed wet blankets. Complaining in almost every thread subject. Loads of drama, be it understandable or not. To me, it seems to outweigh the friendliness and the people who are actually enjoying SL. Maybe I'll find an unofficial forum where the tone is a little less morose.

Good luck with that task.

These forums here are much more congenial than Second Citizen's most popular forum
